Venom International TV Spot Unveils New Riot Villain Footage

A new Venom international TV spot shows more Riot. Directed by Ruben Fleischer and starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock aka. Venom, the upcoming comic book film will be the first out of a series of Sony Pictures projects revolving around Spider-Man characters. When the movie was initially announced, there was some confusion as to whether or not it will crossover with Tom Holland's Peter Parker, who now exists in the MCU. And while that remains to be a mystery - latest rumors claim it could happen down the road - Venom is being marketed as a standalone movie.

That said, it doesn't mean that there aren't plans for its own sequel. The move is expected to pave the way for the introduction of Cletus Kasady aka. Carnage (said to be played by  Woody Harrelson), who will be the main villain of the sequel. But before that, Brock will have to go up against Dr. Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed), an executive at the Life Foundation, who eventually bonds with another symbiote, Riot.

Sony (via Comicbook) has released a brand new international spot for Venom, giving the public a brand new look at the movie's main villain, Riot. The 30-second clip also featured a mix of old and new snippets from the film, as well as a tease regarding the kind of dynamic Brock and Anne (Michelle Williams) will have. By the looks of the slew of promo spots recently released for Venom, it seems like Sony has already locked in the CGI of the film, including the effects for Riot. While most of the movie will focus on Brock transforming to Venom as the two deal with who gets to have the upper hand, chances are that it won't be until later in the movie that Drake will bond with the antagonistic symbiote. Perhaps what even drives him to want to bond with the extraterrestrial being is due to Eddie's newfound powers thanks to inadvertently bonding with Venom. The main difference between the two, however, is that while Venom will be more open to achieving a middle ground with his host, Riot will be more keen on taking over Drake, rather than reaching a compromise with him.

With only a week and a half left before Venom hits theaters, people can expect Sony will further ramp up their marketing campaign to keep people hyped for the movie and convince those who are still on the fence about it to give it a fair shot. It's an understatement to say that there's a lot riding on the shoulder of the Hardy-starrer to succeed considering that the fate of Sony's plans of building their own superhero cinematic franchise hinges on the movie. The project becoming both a mass and critical success would definitely give Marvel Studios' the incentive to allow the character to finally crossover with Holland's Spider-Man.
