Legends of Tomorrow Season 4: Cast & Guest Star Guide

DC's Legends of Tomorrow is back with some new faces joining the cast's already familiar characters. The CW's series about time-hopping misfit superheroes fully embraced their inherent weirdness in season 3 to become what many fans feel is the best Arrowverse show. They'll even skip the annual Arrowverse crossover, Elseworlds, and instead, have a crossover with themselves. And since constant change is built into Legends' DNA; some core castmembers have departed but will be replaced by new heroes coming aboard the Waverider during season 4's 16 episodes.

The Legends ended season 3 with their biggest victory by defeating the time demon Mallus, only to learn from John Constantine (Matt Ryan) that they ended up releasing even more dangerous creatures throughout history. These magical threats - known as "fugitives"  - are now running amok throughout time. This means our ragtag team of screw-ups will be chasing anything from homicidal unicorns to werewolves to bewitching fairy godmothers across historical eras like Woodstock 1969 and the Salem Witch Trials. In addition, DC's Legends of Tomorrow's showrunners promise the series will also tackle themes of "everyday evil and institutional evil" along with scores of mythological baddies.

Season 3 saw the deaths of several major characters like Rip Hunter (Arthur Darville), Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber), and the evil Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) while others like Jefferson Jackson (Franz Drameh) and Leo Snart (Wentworth Miller) also departed the series. However, death isn't necessarily permanent on this series, as the Legends' time-travel shenanigans basically means any character could reappear at any point. In the meantime, here are the characters who will be taking a ride of the Waverider in Legends of Tomorrow season 4:

The Legends Who Are Returning

Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/White Canary - Sara has come into her own as the Captain of the Waverider and as the Legends' undisputed leader, though she's often a reluctant and exasperated head honcho. Meanwhile, the former assassin has found love with Ava Sharpe (Jes Macallan), the director of the Time Bureau, and their romance will blossom even further in season 4.

Brandon Routh as Dr. Ray Palmer/Atom - The eternally optimistic Ray remains the Legends' science nerd and inventor. The Atom may also be finding romance in season 4 after he gave Nora Darhk (Courtney Ford), her father Damien Darhk's time stone so she can escape from the Time Bureau.

Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory/Heatwave - A reformed bank robber and supervillain, Mick has found a family aboard the Waverider, though he'll never admit it. Heatwave will continue his excessive drinking and insults, annoying his fellow Legends while he continues his secret passion as a sci-fi novelist.

Nick Zano as Nate Heywood/Steel - The Legends' resident historian and movie nerd had to say goodbye to Amaya Jiwe/Vixen (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) and will be coping with that heartbreak. Having already met his superhero grandfather Commander Steel (Matthew MacCaull), Nate will also have to deal with his estranged father Hank (Thomas F. Wilson).

Maisie Richardson-Sellers as Charlie - While Vixen's story is done (for now), Richardson-Sellers is playing a new character named Charlie, who is described as a "magical fugitive, rebel trickster, and a bit of an anarchist."

Tala Ashe as Zari Tomaz - Zari, a time-displaced hacker from 2042, found a home aboard the Waverider. In season 4, she may remain one of the few Legends who refuses to wear a superhero costume.

Amy Pemberton as Gideon - The artificial intelligence of the Waverider, the Legends' trusty timeship, Gideon is usually heard and not seen but she does sometimes appear in human form as a hologram.

The New Legends Joining

Matt Ryan as John Constantine - After his popular guest spot last season, the rogue demonologist is now formally a full-time part of the Arrowverse and joins the Legends as a series regular. John's mystical expertise will be needed more than ever against the magical fugitives, but it won't always be a pleasant fit for Constantine aboard the Waverider.

Courtney Ford as Nora Darhk - After spending season 3 as the host vessel of Mallus and under the thrall of her father Damien Darhk, Nora also joins the Legends as a series regular. Nora has to discover who she is now that she's free of both of the evil forces that controlled her. Sparks should also fly between Nora and Ray Palmer (note that Courtney Ford is the real-life wife of Brandon Routh).

The Time Bureau

Jes Macallan as Ava Sharpe - A clone from the year 2213, Ava is now a series regular, the Director of the Time Bureau, and Sara Lance's girlfriend. Ava will try to make her relationship work while also leading the Time Bureau to help the Legends' round up the magical fugitives - all of which is easier said than done.

Adam Tsekhman as Agent Gary Green - Gary has a habit of turning up where he's not wanted (usually in cosplay) but the loveable goofball is the Legends' number-one fan within the Time Bureau.

Recurring/Guest Stars

Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West/Kid Flash - Though Lonsdale is leaving the Arrowverse to pursue new acting opportunities, Kid Flash joined the Legends in season 3 and is expected to make a season 4 appearance.

Ramona Young as Alaska Yu - A new character the Legends will meet, Alaska is described as a "typical twenty-something easily swept up by romantic notions and fantasy novels."

Thomas F. Wilson as Hank Heywood - A career military man, Hank is Nate's estranged father and will try to reconnect with his son in season 4.

Beebo as Beebo - The Blue God of Norse mythology, everyone's favorite furry, huggable toy is set to return in season 4.
