First Look at Skrull Leader LEGO Figure from Captain Marvel

The LEGO figurine for Captain Marvel's Skrull leader Talos has been revealed. Though mostly indistinguishable from any other Skrull character from the movie, it highlights recognizable features that are as movie-accurate as they are comic-accurate.

Predating the events of Iron Man, Captain Marvel centers around former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) as her pursuit to retune her faded memory aligns with imminent extraterrestrial threats. Given the '90s setting, the movie will feature some familiar faces including Nick Fury (predating his eye patch), Phil Coulson, Ronin the Accuser, and Korath the Pursuer, who appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy. Other actors like Lashana Lynch, Jude Law, Gemma Chan, and Ben Mendelsohn also star.

Courtesy of Instagram user Falconfan1414 (via @ninjawhip), the first official look at the brand new LEGO figurine for Captain Marvel's Skrull leader Talos has been revealed. The character Talos is played by Mendelsohn, who will be portrayed both in the character's original Skrull form and in a human disguise. However, despite the fact that this is an exclusive look at early merchandise for the movie, fans have commented on the photo pointing out the fact that there are no key details on the figurine to differentiate it from any other Skrull character in the movie. The toy's headpiece also invited some light criticism.

With the Kree-Skrull War being an integral part of Captain Marvel, Talos and the Skrulls have been defaulted to be the villains of the film. However, it's not outside the realm of possibility that this idea is simply misdirection. For example, Jude Law, who was initially believed to be playing Mar-Vell, may well turn out to be Captain Marvel's actual primary antagonist. The fact that neither he nor the movie's directors would confirm his identity further fuels this particular theory.

With the MCU's first female-led film less than five months away from hitting theaters, Disney and Marvel Studios are expected to kick their marketing campaign for the film up a notch over the next several weeks, and tie-in toys like this one will be formally unveiled. On top of official merchandise, a second trailer could arrive as early as December, and it'll be interesting to see how Marvel Studios juggles promotional activities for Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 given that their release dates are just a few weeks away from each other. That said, the massive anticipation surrounding both movies suggests that neither is at risk of overshadowing the other.
