Max, Duke, Snowball and the rest of the gang are back in the trailer for The Secret Life of Pets 2. The followup to Illumination's 2016 hit was originally set to open in theaters this year, but was pushed back to 2019 after the studio updated its release slate to include Sing 2 in 2020, along with Minions 3. Of course, The Secret Life of Pets sequel has gone through much bigger changes since then - specifically, when it dropped Louis C.K. from its cast last year, after the actor/comedian (who voiced Max in the first movie) confirmed the sexual misconduct allegations levied against him.
Thankfully, updates on The Secret Life of Pets 2 front have been far more positive since then. Patton Oswalt has stepped in to replace C.K. as Max in the movie, with Eric Stonestreet, Kevin Hart, Lake Bell, Dana Carvey, Jenny Slate, Albert Brooks, and Hannibal Buress all reprising their voice roles from the first Secret Life of Pets. The returning actors are joined in the sequel by series newcomers Tiffany Haddish (who's also lending her voice to next year's The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part) and Harrison Ford in his first-ever animated film role.
