The ongoing 10th Season of Fortnite has been extended a week, which really just means that Season 11 has been delayed ever so slightly. Epic Games has continued to reap the rewards of owning one of the biggest franchises in gaming, and multiple franchise holders are chomping at the bit to set up a crossover with the game. This season alone has seen Fortnite cross paths with Borderlands and even DC Comics' Batman dropped into Epic Games' popular Battle Royale game. Who can blame either IP holders either, given how successful Fortnite has been a mashup is a no-brainer.
With that said, players are always looking toward the future and its corresponding changes in Fortnite and every new season delivers that in spades. Some are even speculating that the entirety of the current map may be wiped out when Season X finally wraps up. And while players are eager to see what happens next, Epic Games has confirmed that players will be waiting a little longer while the developer, presumably, gets all of its ducks in a row. The way the Fortnite developer went about delivering news of Season 11's delay came across as slightly disingenious though.
In Fornite's v10.40.1 Patch Notes, Epic Games confirmed that it would be extending the current season by a week. Featured amongst the patch notes, Epic highlighted the season extension by stating: "We may be almost out of time, but we’re not out just yet — Season X has been extended a week!" This means that the new end date for Season X is October 13th, so anyone that has yet to score that sweet, sweet Batman gear is able to do so within this extended window. After that, it'll be gone... forever? Well, maybe not forever, but for the forseeable future.
So, what is Epic Games doing with this elongated window? It's going to be hosting a new event called 'Out of Time'. The new mission will kickoff on Tuesday, October 8 at 9 AM ET and will proceed to run until Sunday, October 13 at 2 PM ET. After that, Season 11 will roll out and this news post will immediately become outdated. On the brightside, anyone reading this ahead of time will have pertinent and significantly more relevant information and that's all that matters.
Fortnite has continued to be an enjoyable game and a new season is increidbly exciting. While some may have issues with the way Epic Games confirmed the Season 11 delay, at least there is an event to occupy everyone's time within the additional week.
