The Bachelor’s Raven Gates Defends Herself Amid Rachel Lindsay Feud

Raven Gates from The Bachelor recently defended herself after Rachel Lindsay publicly stated she refuses to be her friend. The two women met on Nick Viall's season of the long-running dating show.

While competing for Viall's affections, the ladies became fast friends. That friendship even extended into Lindsay's turn as The BacheloretteGates was one of several women from the franchise hand-picked by Lindsay to help her choose from a coterie of eligible men. Once Lindsay decided on Bryan Abasolo, she, Gates and her boyfriend (now fiance) Adam Gottschalk often double dated. For a while, it seemed like the friendship was a wonderful byproduct of appearing on the show. Then in October 2019, the relationship officially imploded when Lindsay went on Bravo's What What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and confessed that she would no longer have anything to do with Gates. She was cagey with details but made it clear that the relationship was irreparably dead.

Gates avoided making any public comments in response to Lindsay's Bravo appearance. However, she recently broke her silence, saying, "I’m just as shocked as everybody else and I wish I had answers, but I don’t and I don’t think I ever will." Gates said in an interview via People"I have never done her wrong. I guess I just have to put it to rest and it is what it is and I’m not going to say anything bad about her because that’s not in my heart or my spirit." She said, "But I wish her nothing but the best."

Of course, the rumor mill went crazy with the feud, especially when The Bachelor's Colton Underwood took Lindsay to task for allegedly not getting along well with others. There was fan speculation that Lindsay was jealous of Gates. However, Lindsay was engaged at the time and later married Abasolo. She's also a successful Texas attorney who has segued into a new career as a television and podcast host. There was also speculation that Lindsay was a Bridezilla, or that the rift might have involved an inappropriate flirtation with Abasolo. In the end, it was reported that Gates had been caught in a private thread speaking ill of numerous stars of The Bachelor franchise. When Lindsay learned she was part of that gossip, as well as what it entailed, she immediately broke off the friendship.

While it's commendable that Gates wishes Lindsay well, it's not the least bit believable that she's unaware of what caused their rift. For Nick Viall come to Lindsay's defense and put Gates on blast for her gossipy ways is telling. Briefly, the Colton Underwood drama attempted to paint Lindsay in a negative light. However, Underwood eventually admitted that he was upset because he thought Lindsay made him look bad in front of his girlfriend - a woman who wasn't even sure she wanted to be with him in the first place. It's all for the best that Rachel Lindsay and Raven Gates have ended their friendship. Hopefully, now that Gates has responded to the drama, reality show fans can finally move on to more drama on the new season of The Bachelor.
