Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Disney World's Holywood Studios is easily one of the most immersive, immense, and impressive worlds created by any Disney Park. Stepping through the gate is like stepping onto another planet, it's absolutely incredible to see the amount of detail put into building this chunk of the Star Wars universe.
With all the starships, futuristic structures, and Jedi shrines, it can be easy to be swept away in the cocktail of Star Wars wizardry and Disney magic. Ergo, there are a lot of little tweaks and touches some fans miss every time. Fortunately, we've compiled a list of weird little details you can look for in Galaxy's Edge.
10 Droid Footprints
If you're anything like we were the first time we stepped on the surface of Batuu, you were probably a little too awestruck by the astounding beauty of the massive structures and starships to notice minor details. The large, eye-catching features are all brilliant, but what about what lies below?
The Disney Imagineers never leave out even the smallest of details, so it makes sense that they would cover the streets as well as the structures. If you take a moment to observe the ground beneath you, you'll notice several Droid tracks scattered throughout Batuu. It should be noted that some were created using the feet from the R2-D2 used in the films. Talk about detail dedication.
9 Gungan Tracks
On the subject of footprints in the street, another set worth noting belong to a species one wouldn't normally associate with Batuu, but these creatures can be found in abundance on Naboo. Along with the Droid tracks and other creatures and beings, a set of Gungan feet can also be seen on the grounds of Batuu.
Though not immediately noticeable amidst all the other eye-candy in Galaxy's Edge, fans of The Phantom Menace will definitely notice the three-toed tracks. Perhaps Jar-Jar might be wandering about, probably looking to get a spot for Smuggler's Run.
8 Drink Names
Trekking through Batuu will definitely burn up a lot of calories, it might be a good idea to grab something cold to give you a little pick-me-up. Whether you choose to visit Oga's Cantina or one of the vendors in the bazaar, you'll definitely find something to wet your whistle. But there's something familiar about their names.
You might try a Twin Sunrise, a Bespin Fizz, or even some Blue Milk for a little Tatooine flavor. Naturally, the names are all references to locations in the film series. Perfect for a place selling a taste of a galaxy far, far away.
7 Ronto Roasters' Engine
Now we've had something cold and refreshing, how bout we rustle up some grub? After all, we can't fight the First Order on an empty stomach, Right? So let's grab ourselves a hunk of spit-roasted space meat and fill up our tanks at Ronto Roasters. While you're enjoying your Endorian chicken, have a look at the roaster in the middle of the restaurant.
The "roaster" is actually a repurposed pod-racer engine as seen in The Phantom Menace, complete with Tatooine-inspired paint job. Once again, the prequels get a little love and attention from the Disney Imagineers. We can't deny the cleverness of this use of recycled space tech.
6 Board Games
Along with your typical Star-Wars toys and gear you can find in any store on Disney property, Galaxy's Edge offers several unique souvenirs found only in Hollywood Studios. From wooden figures to ragdoll versions of classic characters, even the merch helps complete the immersion. But we have to give bonus points to a few select items in particular, the games.
Sabacc, Dejarik, and chance cubes can all be found at the Toydarian Toymaker, along with various other Star-Wars-inspired amusements. There's just something extra immersive about including these games from another planet, and we'd certainly be willing to learn how to play.
5 The Creature Stall
If you have enough credits, you can walk out of Batuu with your own creature from another world from the Creature Stall in the market place. That being said, we're not here to talk about adopting a Porg or Kowakian Monkey-Lizard, but the other creatures on display in the shop.
Once again, Disney goes the extra mile with immersion by including animatronics of the sleeping Lothcat and the various amphibious creatures behind glass. Even if you're just browsing through the bazaar, don't forget to make a quick stop to visit the various wildlife on display.
4 Various Droids
Let's admit it, the Star Wars universe would be pretty baren without Droids. While you can see dozens of them on display and behind safety bars at the Droid Factory, you can also see various makes and models around the streets of Batuu during your visit to Galaxy's Edge.
Some of them are stationary and there for visual appeal, but some come to life at random intervals or with the use of the Disney Play app. The Droids are many a Star Wars fan's favorite features, and we definitely think these buckets of bolts are worthy of a spot on our list.
3 Creature Noises
Proper immersion relies on different sensory stimulations. The sights, the sounds, and the sensations of Batuu are definitely the secret ingredients that make Galaxy's Edge all that more real to us fans, but if you listen carefully, you might hear more than the music of John Williams on the Batuu breeze.
To complete the auditory experience, sound effects of various Star Wars creatures can be heard in the outskirts of Batuu. Bantha grunts and even the occasional chatter of Ewok's and Jawas can be heard as you venture towards the spire. Easily missed, but greatly appreciated.
2 Hidden Mickeys
How can you go to a Disney Park and not find a handful of Hidden Mickeys? With over 1000 in each Disney Park, there's bound to be more than a few noticeable additions, and Galaxy's Edge is no exception. Though your average Hidden Mickey can be found in gravel or paint, Batuu is home to two of extra recognition.
The first can be seen in a domed structure towards the spire formed by a trio of blaster marks in that iconic circular shape. The second, however, is a little bit harder to find in spite of its iconic location. There is a small Hidden Mickey placed amongst the circuitry of the Millenium Falcon outside Smuggler's Run.
1 Opposing Territory
One of our favorite features of this incredible world has to be the veritable turf war between the Resistance and the First Order. From the Resistance Outpost to the First Order's cargo hold, the conflict between the light side and the dark side can easily be felt in the visual presentation of this world.
We also have to tip our hats and applaud the Disney Parks cast members who go above and beyond in their roles to further apply that oh-so-beloved immersion factor. Guests are encouraged to join either plight and pick a side in the galactic battle at hand. It's little touches like this that really make us feel part of this incredible universe.
