While the main draw of watching The Office for many fans will always be that it’s extremely hilarious, seeing the lives of the characters unfold over time is also really engaging. Throughout the series, many of the characters fall in and out of love and some even end up with their soulmates. While some of the relationships on the series might be perfect, others are not. There are also some characters who know what romance is all about as well as some who are awful at it.
We’ve put together a list of the most romantic-minded characters from The Office and ranked them leading up to the most romantic of all.
10 ANDY BERNARD
Andy Bernard is on this list because he has moments where he can be surprisingly romantic. He also has times where he’s extremely obtuse and awful at love, but, at his best, he can pull out the romantic stops. When he’s trying to marry Angela, he goes out of his way to try and plan the perfect wedding that’s everything she wants.
Also, early on in his relationship with Erin, Andy takes the time to do romantic things like fake being sick so they can still go on their first date together.
9 DWIGHT SCHRUTE
Dwight Schrute might not be a character everyone would expect to be on a list like this, but he is another example of someone who can be romantic.
While he’s rather awkward and eccentric, and sometimes makes big mistakes in love, he also has times where he’s really romantic toward Angela. Some of his most romantic moments include when he helped Anglea sing the Little Drummer Boy during karaoke and when he took the important tax forms to corporate for her and then got fired for doing so.
8 KELLY KAPOOR
Kelly Kapoor is a character that loves the idea of romance so much that she had to be on this list. However, she is someone who is more interested in the thought of romance than someone who knows anything about it. She’s rather superficial when it comes to love.
While she loves the idea of things like flowers and marriage, she is rather dramatic and selfish at the same time. She also ends up in a relationship with someone who is not romantic at all and doesn’t treat her well.
7 KAREN FILIPPELLI
Karen might not seem like the most romantic character from the series because she’s more down to earth and practical, but she’s just a balanced human being who understands when romance should take place.
She can be quite caring towards her partners, and she likes to joke around and spend time with them. It’s also clear that her idea of romance is goofing around and having fun, and this seems to be the case given the pictures that Pam sees of Karen with her husband.
6 HOLLY FLAX
Holly Flax might not be someone who is always going to make a huge romantic gesture, but she understands that romance is often about the little daily things. She is someone who enjoys PDA and doing romantic things with Michael.
This includes doing things like role-playing different characters and joking around with him. She clearly likes to be romantic, but she just isn’t as over the top or ridiculous about it as Michael tends to be. This is mostly just because she is a little more grounded than he is.
5 PHYLLIS VANCE
Phyllis Vance is one of the characters from The Office who is all about love. Her relationship with Bob Vance is central to her character, and it’s clear she loves romance.
She’s always talking about how her and her husband have a great sex life and she seems to enjoy this part of her life immensely. When it comes to the sexier side of things, Phyllis is all about romance and spicing things up.
4 BOB VANCE
It’s hard to say which of these two is more romantic as both Bob and Phyllis seem rather evenly matched when it comes to love and doing gestures. They both seem really invested in one another. However, Bob seems like someone who likes to do really romantic things that express affection.
He often does things like send Phyllis flowers and lots of other gifts on Valentine’s Day. He also spends a thousand dollars at the Crime Aid auction to get a hug from his wife. It’s clear that Bob knows how to make a big statement about love.
3 MICHAEL SCOTT
Michael is one of the characters from the series who is most concerned about love. He clearly wants to be married and have kids, and he wants someone to love him. He can be really clueless and bad at romance, but he’s also super likely to do romantic things.
No matter who he’s dating, he tries to do romantic gestures even if sometimes he doesn’t do a good job of it. When he’s dating Helene, he makes her a book of poems, and he makes a family Christmas card when he’s with Carol, even if it’s weird. But, it’s when he’s with Holly that he’s most romantic. His proposal to her is definitely one of the most lovely moments from the show.
2 PAM BEESLY
While it’s true that Pam might not be as likely to make huge romantic moments with Jim, she shows that sometimes romance is more about being super reliable and steady.
She is someone who is really committed to her relationship, and she shows she cares by being there for Jim in the day to day. She does also try to show she cares by doing things like creating the comic book for Jim.
1 JIM HALPERT
Jim is by far the person from The Office that is most known for doing romantic things. He is someone who knows he cares by doing personalized, affectionate things. He does many romantic things for Pam such as making the teapot Christmas present and filling it with inside jokes.
He’s also super romantic when it comes to how he talks to Pam, often showering her in compliments and generally being romantic in talking about their love.
