Bob's Burgers is one of the funniest and most wholesome shows on the air right now. Its animation style is relaxing and although the gang gets themselves into wacky antics each week, it's always a fun, hilarious, and heartfelt result. This show doesn't have a weak character. The side characters are just as entertaining and endearing as the main Belcher family.
Two hilarious recurring side characters are classmates of daughter Tina Belcher, Jimmy Jr. and Zeke. These two middle schoolers have such a fun and wild relationship that's full of support and a great representation of young friendship. Let's revisit some of their best quotes about friendship over the years!
10 "You go, Gene, you're giving J-Ju the wiggles!" (S10 E11)
Gene challenges a local pawn shop owner to a music battle after he's banned from playing the drum machine at the store. If Gene wins he can come back to the store anytime and play it, and if he loses he's banned forever. He starts playing his beat and the kids are impressed. Jimmy Jr. can't control his dancing and Zeke delivers this line urging Gene to keep going because his buddy Jimmy Jr., J-Ju being Zeke's nickname for him, can't contain his dancing. Zeke's always supportive of Jimmy Jr.'s need to dance, as any friend should be!
9 "I can't only see you on the Zeke-ends, that's not enough Zeke for me." (S9 E22)
When Zeke's dad threatens to send him to a disciplinary school if he gets in trouble one more time that's an hour away. Zeke tells them he's going to get in trouble because while he was in detention for wrestling at lunch, he spelled out a bad word in wet toilet paper wads on the ceiling of the room. Jimmy Jr. can't handle it. He starts freaking out that he might only be able to see Zeke on the weekends, or "Zeke-ends," and so they devise a plan to help Zeke out. The idea that you can't handle your friend going to a school that's an hour away and only being able to see him two days of the week is friendship at its finest.
8 "Give me detention too." (S9 E22)
This episode sees Zeke getting in trouble once again when he starts wrestling Jimmy Jr. in the cafeteria and spills a lunch all over guidance counselor Mr. Frond.
When Frond gives Zeke detention, Jimmy Jr. pleads for detention too. True friendship is being with your friend through the good times and the bad and realizing that the bad times can be better with your friend by your side!
7 "Someday we're gonna start our own men's fashion line and then live in a van!" (S5 E16)
This episode follows the Belcher kids in an homage to the Breakfast Club as they've been given Saturday detention with the usual suspects, including Jimmy Jr. and Zeke. Guidance counselor Mr. Frond wants to try rehabilitating the kids so he challenges them to release their frustrations through designing new fashion similar to reality TV shows like Netflix's newest Next In Fashion. When picking teams, Jimmy Jr. and Zeke excitedly pick each other and Jimmy Jr. delivers this quote that represents quintessential young friendship.
6 "My brothers are twins, but there's only one of me..." (S9 E15)
The Belcher kids feel bad that Mr. Frond is going to be fired so a completely ill-equipped relative of the principal can take his place. So they devise a plan to show how incompetent he is and overwhelm him. They gather all students in the gym to meet the new counselor and tell everyone to ask him questions. Quickly getting overwhelmed by the students' issues, the guy quits and runs away, leaving Mr. Frond as their guidance counselor. The issue that Jimmy Jr. shares is that he's upset that his brothers are twins and it feels like a rip-off. The supportive friend that he is, Zeke says he'll be his twin, but Jimmy Jr. says he doesn't even look like him. That doesn't stop Zeke from putting him into one of his pattened tight hugs and continually saying they're twins in an attempt to make him feel better.
5 "We can keep hanging out all day every day." (S9 E22)
When the group breaks into the school on the weekend to hide Zeke's prank so he doesn't have to be sent away to a disciplinary school, they find their way into the classroom despite Mr. Branca and Mr. Frond roaming the halls.
Jimmy Jr. and Zeke celebrate with a short and hushed interaction where they're happy they can hang out all day every day because it looks like they'll succeed. Jimmy Jr. delivers the line tearfully and Zeke returns his happy tears and whispers they should have a quick hug, friendship for the win.
4 "Someday, buddy, you'll do it. God, I hope I'm there." (S10 E11)
Louise enlists the help of her school friends and Tina's school friends to get revenge on a pawn shop owner that kicked Gene out of his store for continually playing on the drum machine. Louise wants all of them to start playing something annoying on the instruments in the store to drive the guy crazy. Jimmy Jr. asks if he can play "Lady in Red" on the keyboard and Louise tells him it's not a "Lady in Red" situation. Jimmy Jr. exclaims his frustration about it never being a "Lady in Red" situation and Zeke comforts him.
3 "If I die of boredom, tell my story." "You know I will." (S9 E18)
This episode sees the Wagstaff school go on a field trip to see marionette puppets at a local theater. None of the kids are excited about the trip, and Jimmy Jr. and Zeke show their distaste with this exchange. Zeke asks Jimmy Jr. to tell his story if he can't handle the boredom of the puppet field trip and like the friend Jimmy Jr. is he gleefully agrees.
2 "Abraca-yeah, bro! I support ya!" (S4 E10)
There's a Festival of Magic in town and Jimmy Jr. is planning on performing his magic act that will include a lot of dancing. Zeke continually supports him by saying this line and always being surprised when he sees one of Jimmy Jr.'s magic tricks. Although Zeke might not understand Jimmy Jr.'s obsession with magic or dancing, he's as supportive as you wish all friends should be!
1 "I'm the Katniss to your Pita bread." (S5 E21)
Landlord Mr. Fischoeder tells all his tenants he will be raising their rent, and Bob organizes a strike if he goes through with it. They show up to his house and Fischoeder is ready for them. He breaks up their group by offering them a challenge: whoever wins a water balloon fight will get half of their rent. They quickly start fighting a la Hunger Games. Jimmy Jr. and Zeke are there because Jimmy Pesto is part of the tenant mob. Jimmy Jr. wants to create an alliance and we hear this hilarious response from Zeke agreeing to it.
