Clone Wars Reveals Ahsoka WAS In Revenge of The Sith (You Just Missed Her)

Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7 reveals that Ahsoka Tano was in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, but the movie neglects to stick around long enough to actually show her. This is the final season of the Star Wars prequel-era cartoon, and as of its most recent episode, "Shattered," the show has now reached the climax of Revenge of the Sith's tragic story. Order 66 has come to pass, and Anakin Skywalker has fallen to the dark side and become Darth Vader.

Across the last few episodes of The Clone Wars season 7, viewers have seen another side of the events of Episode III, with Ahsoka's own mission to capture Maul being interwoven with those of Anakin and Obi-Wan Kenobi. For instance, The Clone Wars reveals Anakin and Obi-Wan are with Ahsoka just prior to learning General Greivous has kidnapped Chancellor Palpatine, and before he travels to Utapau to confront Greivous, Obi-Wan speaks with Ahsoka via holovid, sharing with her his growing concern over Anakin. In this latest episode of The Clone Wars season 7, Ahsoka senses Anakin's fall to the dark side just before Order 66 is given, though she doesn't yet understand what's happened.

In Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7, episode 11, "Shattered," there is another scene lifted straight from Revenge of the Sith. It's of Mace Windu sharing his suspicions about Palpatine with Yoda, Ki-Adi-Mundi, and Aayla Secura. In the movie, the scene takes place on Coruscant with Windu present and the rest appearing as holograms. It ends with Yoda's warning they use "great care" when dealing with the Chancellor, before the scene cuts to Anakin meeting with Palpatine. The Clone Wars, however, shows the scene from the perspective of Ahsoka and Rex. In this version, the Jedi are all holograms and they're discussing Palpatine just before Ahsoka and Rex enter the room to give their report on Maul's capture. The scene then continues beyond what's shown in the movie as they discuss Ahsoka's future, but it's the very inclusion of her in this scene that confirms just how close Ahsoka is to the onscreen events in Revenge of the Sith.

Ahsoka wasn't yet created when Revenge of the Sith was filmed, which is why a character as important as Anakin's padawan is never mentioned in the movies. There was a discussion about Ahsoka possibly being retconned into Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, but The Clone Wars director Dave Filoni decided against it. Instead, The Clone Wars has been clever with how they're keeping Ahsoka removed from the main action of Revenge of the Sith's climax, but still involving her in the saga's overall narrative. Her role in the Siege of Mandalore and especially her duel with Maul are big moments for Ahsoka's character, further exploring her complicated relationship with the Jedi just as Anakin is about to sever his ties with the order completely.

Only one episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7 remains, and it has a few plots it needs to wrap up before all is said and done. Having been freed by Ahsoka, Maul is still rampaging on the Republic cruiser as he makes his escape. Ahsoka and Rex, too, need to escape in order to fully survive Order 66. It's already known that all three characters will make it out alive since they all appear Star Wars Rebels, but just what they witness as they do remains to be seen. The ship they're all on is currently on a course for Coruscant, and that could mean they'll arrive in time to see the rise of the Empire first hand.
