Watch Hamilton the hit musical - but everyone is a dog named Kevin. Lin-Manuel Miranda's groundbreaking Broadway musical about Founding Father Alexander Hamilton won eleven Tony awards in 2016. A filmed version of Hamilton recently dropped on Disney+, resulting in an impressive 72.4% increase in subscribers for the streaming platform. The innovative musical, which utilizes hip-hop, rap, jazz, and other musical styles to tell the story of America, has inspired many fans to create their own Hamilton-inspired videos.
A Golden Named Kevin did not throw away his shot with a fun TikTok video set to Elizabeth Schuyler's first solo, "Helpless." Kevin the golden retriever took on the dual roles of Eliza Schuyler and Alexander Hamilton in the video. Check out the video below, and the great response to Kevin from the official Hamilton Twitter page.
Nothing beats a dog-inspired Hamilton fan tribute, especially with costumes that are incredibly similar to Eliza's and Hamilton's during "Helpless." What's so wonderful about a musical like Hamilton is that it is still inspiring fans years after the show's premiere on Broadway. It was quite a brilliant move to allow the general public to view Hamilton on Disney+ in the midst of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, garning the show even more fans.
Not only did the move make the show more accessible and affordable to fans who may have not been able to see the show otherwise, but musicals like Hamilton are few and far between. Not only that, but the show's hopeful message is something the world needs right now. After all, what's more inspiring than a Founding Father who wouldn't throw away his shot? The only thing better than that is an adorable golden retriever dressed up in Hamilton-inspired attire.
