Helstrom: 5 Reasons Why It Should Connect To The MCU (& 5 Reasons Why It Shouldn't)

Marvel's Helstrom is set to have its own panel at San Diego Comic Con this year, but the future for the series isn't looking that bright. It's already been confirmed that there will not be a second season of the show and the only reason it is being aired is because it was already filmed.

The merger of FOX and Disney as well as the emergence of Disney+ has meant that Marvel TV has been thrown into chaos. There's a chance that Daimon Hellstrom could be saved if the character is thrown into the MCU, but there's a number of reasons why this shouldn't happen and an equal amount as to why he absolutely should be included into this ever expanding universe.

10 Shouldn't: Disney+

The creation of Disney+ and the multiple shows that will be making their way to the streaming service means that there's a pretty bleak future for Helstrom.

The fact is, at it stands right now the show wouldn't fit into the Disney family very well. It seems to be taking a gritty approach, with demons and horror elements. Perhaps a one shot of the character on the platform could help see if it really works in that setting.

9 Should: New Genre

One reason the show should be welcomed into the MCU family is that it is stepping in to a brand new genre. There's very little in terms of supernatural and horror franchises at Marvel right now.

Characters like Doctor Strange and in the future Blade, seem to be setting the right tone but bringing in Daimon would completely flip the genre upside down and go all out.

8 Shouldn't: Netflix

The Netflix shows are a clear example at how great properties can be completely left behind. So far characters like Jessica Jones and Daredevil have completely vanished from the MCU landscape.

Helstrom might be in for a similar fate. If the show doesn't connect to the MCU then it's a little easier to forget about it, rather than this huge hole suddenly being created in the universe.

7 Should: Midnight Sons

The Midnight Sons are one of Marvel's most well known supernatural teams. It includes characters like Ghost Rider, Blade and Doctor Strange who are all a part of the MCU.

Bringing in Hellstrom into the mix could result in a a proper Midnight Sons team being formed. There's a definite gap in the market right now for a team like this.

6 Shouldn't: Other Cancellations

Due to Marvel Studios absorbing Marvel Television, a number of other projects were cancelled. There was originally talk of An Adventure Into Fear stories being told, including Helstrom and a Ghost Rider series.

With the Ghost Rider show being cancelled and other shows being completely forgotten about, perhaps it's best if Helstrom stands on its own and separates itself from everything else going on.

5 Should: Interesting Character

The character of Daimon Hellstrom is actually really interesting. As the son of the devil there's a lot of questions to be asked about morality and indeed the ultimate question of the afterlife.

The character fits into the Marvel Universe well, creating his own little corner of the world to explore. His anti-hero persona brings with it stories that haven't been told on the big or small screen yet.

4 Shouldn't: One And Done

There's a penchant for series being one and done in the MCU. The Inhumans never got a proper footing in the MCU because of a singular disaster series based on their royal family.

The same could happen to Daimon if the show is linked to the MCU. Perhaps it's best to have a single series without connecting it and then reboot the character in the universe.

3 Should: Hulu

Hulu is already a platform that Disney has used to launch Marvel characters. The young team known as the Runaways, have made a big impact on Hulu already.

With their show now available on Disney+ perhaps there's a chance that Helstrom can follow a similar path. After all, the Walt Disney Company do now have a majority share in the Hulu platform.

2 Shouldn't: Future Opportunities

There's going to be future opportunities for the character. Perhaps he'd fit extremely well into another show or film series. By having the series link to the MCU it complicates matters.

If the character is to have a chance again in the future, then the show must be separate so that any other appearances do not contradict the continuity of the series.

1 Should: Connect The Universe

There's always the demand from fans to connect up the universe further. If Helstrom proves to be successful then the calls to have him linked closer to the MCU will be quite loud.

The character does represent something totally different and it therefore should be relatively easy to add him, since there's been very little exploration into the Marvel version of hell.
