The Punisher: 5 Scenes Fans Didn't See Coming (& 5 They Did)

Marvel's The Punisher is not a regular superhero drama series because unlike other vigilantes, Frank Castle doesn't have any superpowers. Instead, he is just an ex-marine looking for justice. And while at first, he believes he is looking for vengeance, soon, he realizes that he always needs a war to keep himself sane because that's the kind of person he is.

The Netflix Original is filled with unpredictable scenes, shocking moments, guns, and intense fight sequences, among other things. The storylines in seasons one and two don't disappoint either, with a couple of really good antagonists coming up against The Punisher. In the show, there are some scenes the fans didn't see coming; there are others that were more foreseeable.

10 Did: Sarah Getting Intimate With Frank

When Frank met Sarah to bring Micro out of his den, from the first time they talked, fans could see there being an attraction because both of them are in a similar position, mourning the loss of their loved ones. Frank was only close to David's family to keep them safe, but Sarah started feeling attracted to Frank and one can say that the latter also felt the same, even though he wouldn't accept it. It was pretty predictable, to say the least.

9 Didn't: Curtis Taking Senator Schultz To Mahoney

Curtis has always backed Frank, no matter what the latter has tried to pull off. So, one can imagine the shock when Curtis took Senator Schultz to Mahoney behind The Punisher's back. And another reason why that came as a shock is because, without Senator Schultz, John Pilgrim wouldn't have let Amy Bendix go free. Curtis knew that and still, he did what he did. It could have come to bite Frank back.

8 Did: Micro Isn't Frank's Enemy

Micro was waiting for Frank Castle to appear on one of his monitors and as soon as he did, Micro made attempts to come in contact with him.

Eventually, his name was revealed to be David Liberman and when his history was told by Karen Page, fans knew Micro was going to be Frank's chance at redemption. Also, Frank's enemies are not the talking types and when Micro was willing to talk, it was predictable what was going to happen next.

7 Didn't: Dinah Madani Struck By A Truck

Frank needed weapons for his and Micro's plan of going against William Rawlins and so, he decided to come in between Homeland Security's operation into Russian weapons or to be exact, in between Dinah Madani's operation. When the operation was compromised, Dinah decided to go after the perpetrator without knowing that it was Frank. And when she got too close, Micro blew her away with a truck. She survived, though.

6 Did: Krista Dumont Controlling Russo

From the very start, Dr. Krista Dumont seemed too interested in Billy Russo, even though she was just the therapist of the man. And as the series went on, Krista started becoming more obvious with her moves, controlling Russo with her charming words. Even though she seemed to be in love, Krista pretty much had a spell on Russo because she knew exactly what Russo wanted and needed. She isn't evil but she could do anything to get what she wants.

5 Didn't: Krista And Russo's Plan For Frank

This course of action finally put Krista as one of the antagonists of the series. With the help of Dinah, Krista managed to learn everything about Frank and decided to break him by making The Punisher think that he murdered innocent people.

The episode in which this happened was an absolute bloodbath and one of the best in the entire series. A lot of things are revealed about Frank and Russo and why they do what they do.

4 Did: Sam Stein Killed By Russo

Dinah Madani wanted justice at all costs and she became obsessed with finding out the truth about Kandahar. When she arrived at Homeland Security, she took Sam Stein under her wing and made him understand the importance of Kandahar, even though he could have easily denied helping her. So, when Sam found out that Russo was involved in this mess, everyone saw Sam's death coming. It was very predictable and important.

3 Didn't: The Larkville County Shootout

When Frank and Amy were arrested by the Larkville County Sheriff's Department, everyone knew that John Pilgrim would come looking for them sooner rather than later. And when he did, the Sheriff didn't give him what he wanted. One thought that Pilgrim would come back with a plan but instead, he decided to take law in his hands as he open fired on every single police officer, including Frank and Amy. Of course, The Punisher found a way out.

2 Did: Billy Russo Colluding With William Rawlins

Ever since he first appeared in the series, it seemed like Billy Russo was only acting to be a good man when inside, he was something entirely different. Anyone who has read the Marvel Comics would have known that Russo goes on to become the iconic villain Jigsaw, which means those fans would have known that Billy is someone very evil. He really was the worst. How can someone play a part in killing their best friend's entire family?

1 Didn't: Frank Castle Leaving John Pilgrim

Frank isn't a man who will leave a criminal alone without him dying first. He doesn't think they are worth saving and it isn't negotiable. So it was highly surprising when Frank left Pilgrim alone, even though he wanted him dead from the start of season two. Maybe because Pilgrim had a family to take care of, Frank spared him but still, it didn't make any sense.
