Fortnite Season 4's Marvel Crossovers Confirmed By In-Game Comic Book

After Thor's arrival in Fortnite has been teased over the past week, today's in-game comic update confirms that Fortnite Season 4's Marvel crossover will be the focus of the entire season, and it shows which Marvel heroes have made the cut. There have been plenty of events in the past that spotlighted different heroes, but this is the first time Fortnite has dedicated an entire season to an outside franchise.

Fortnite has become notorious for its crossovers adding a plethora of pop-culture icons to the game's massive library of characters. Heroes such as Deadpool, Aquaman, and Batman have all been added to Fortnite via in-game events. While Deadpool and Aquaman were present during an entire season, their presence was only a small highlight during nine weeks of content. Other popular Fortnite skins like rapper Travis Scott were added through a super-limited cinematic experience drawing millions of concurrent players.

Over the past week, Fortnite has produced an in-game comic book that updates daily, foretelling how Thor and Galactus make their way to The Island. Entranced by The Island's energy, Galactus is attempting to consume Fortnite's world, but Thor rushes ahead to stop him. Knowing that he is outmatched, Thor calls upon Earth's mightiest heroes, who are teleported to the world of Fortnite. Captain America, Wolverine, Iron Man, Groot, Dr. Doom, Mystique, She-Hulk, and Storm are all summoned to help Thor battle Galactus, but they all seem to have lost their memory. The comic's final panel shows the heroes standing together, but clueless as to who one another are.

The story is set to pick up in Fortnite Season 4, which starts tomorrow, August 27. If the comic is any indication of what players can expect, all of the heroes pictured will be available as skins through Fortnite's Battle Pass. The theme of the season has also been teased as "The War to Save Reality," and players can expect to see one or more in-game events take place that revolve around Marvel's mightiest heroes facing off against the devourer of worlds.

Fortnite and Marvel have seen various crossovers in the past, but never on this level. Essentially, players are being given a complete roster of Marvel's most beloved superheroes, and they will all be available through the game's natural progression system. Sure, players will have to shell out $10 to buy the Battle Pass, but that beats spending up to $25 per skin. While this can feel like a bit of a sellout for Fortnite, it opens the door for more franchises to take control of Fortnite for a season, and it will definitely draw in Marvel's massive fanbase.
