DC comics has challenged its fans to submit their best Cyborg costumes and fan art as part of its upcoming virtual event, DC FanDome. Set to take place on Aug. 22, the global twenty-four-hour event will provide a fan-first experience, with fans from all over the world invited to share their love of DC's heroes and villains. As part of the event, fans have been called by DC to submit their own work, including fan art, cosplay, and more.
DC FanDome will cover a variety of topics within the DC world, from traditional comic books to TV shows, movies, and video games. Plenty of announcements and reveals are expected to be made, with upcoming films such as Wonder Woman 1984, The Suicide Squad, and The Batman set to be released in the next year or two. Also expected are special guest appearances from writers, actors, directors, and more, with Justice League director Zack Snyder and Black Adam star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson having both confirmed that they would be at the event.
In preparation for FanDome, Warner Bros. Pictures took to Twitter to urge fans to submit their best work of Victor Stone, aka Cyborg. The post features several examples of submissions already made by fans, who were inspired by everything from the Justice League movie to the old animated Teen Titans series that ran on Cartoon Network. The post shows fan art as well as homemade costumes, and fans of Cyborg, no matter what his incarnation are invited to submit both.
Cyborg has yet to receive a stand-alone movie, and any recent news involving him has mostly been about whether or not he will make an appearance in The Flash. As of now, the only ongoing live-action portrayal of the cybernetic superhero has been in DC Universe's Doom Patrol, where Joivan Wade plays him. Beyond this, actor Ray Fisher, who stars as Cyborg in Justice League, has made it clear that he would still like to portray the character, though he has not said anything definitive about plans for his part in the DCEU.
If the fan art shown off by the recent post suggests anything, it is that there is still widespread interest in the character of Cyborg. Although it is still up in the air whether any major announcement will be made regarding the character's future in the DCEU, fans likely remain hopeful that the high-tech hero will have a role to play.
