What We Do In The Shadows is a popular movie and television series that mixes horror and comedy in a mockumentary depicting what it's like for vampires to live within the 21st century. The movie was made by Jermaine Clement and Taika Waititi, who also both starred in it, and almost instantly became a cult classic. Clement went on to create the TV series for FX which also became a hit shortly after it began with its third season releasing soon.
All of the characters from both the movie and the television series are wildly funny and unique to make each character pretty stand out in their own way and have their own backstories which heavily come into account when assessing their personalities. Here is a list of which What We Do In The Shadows character you would be based on your Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®. Which vampire, or familiar, are you?
10 Colin Robinson - INTP
Colin Robinson is unlike any of the other vampires in the series, he's an energy vampire, which allows him to go out into the sun. He doesn't need human blood like the rest, instead, he sucks out others' energy, draining them to the point of feeling so utterly tired that his victims pass out. Energy vampires are a concept the show introduces and actually has Colin Robinson meet a second energy vampire at work, one who sucks out others' emotions making them feel dreary and sad. Colin Robinson is the perfect INTP. He is logical and likes to come up with new and creative ways to drain people of their energy. While INTPs have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, Colin Robinson has an unquenchable thirst for energy.
9 Stu - ISFP
Stu is a simple human who the vampires in the film end up really caring for as he teaches them how to adapt to modern technology. Stu is incredibly humble and kind and just really likes being around his friends. He was introduced to the vampires by Nick, but they ended up liking Stu way better (as did the viewers) and invited him over more often. Stu is a perfect ISFP. He is incredibly warm-hearted but considerably brave for hanging out with vampires who could kill him at any time. Stu is always ready to explore new things but also show others new things and share in his passions.
8 Guillermo - ISFJ
Guillermo wants nothing more than to become a vampire. He has worked at Nandor's familiar for 10 years and he is beginning to lose hope that his transformation will ever actually happen. Bit one thing is for sure, as much as he may pretend to be angry at the vampires for taking so long, he deeply cares for each of them and would go to great lengths to protect them. He is the perfect ISFJ.
Guillermo is the defender, he protects them without the need of praise, in fact, he doesn't want any. But he willingly jumps into action whenever he is needed in order to save his Master and the vampires. A perfect example of this is the big season 2 finale.
7 Petyr - INFJ
Petyr is a Nosferatu-like-vampire who is around 8,000 years old and lives on the bottom floor of the flat. He is the vampire who changed Deacon and Nick. He generally keeps to himself and doesn't like to be woken up, and never does any of his chores leaving Viago to complete them for him. Because INFJs are known to be somewhat mystical and quiet, there is no better fit for the role than Petyr. Petyr probably sees his lack of chores as helping the boys help themselves. He saved them from Nick running off into the world and exposing them and instead made him a vampire as well. Though he may not show it, Petyr definitely cares.
6 Viago - ESFJ
Viago was loosely based on one of the vampires from Interview With A Vampire and is probably the most wholesome out of all the characters. Taika Waititi said he based Viago's personality on his mom and so he is the housemate who tries to get everyone to keep the house in working order. He is the one who sets the chorus and wakes the others up every night. Viago makes for a perfect ESFJ. He is constantly caring for his housemates and is always eager to help them when they are in need. Viago just enjoys supporting his friends.
5 Nadja - ESTJ
While Nadja pretends to allow Nandor to be the group leader, she also knows that she is really the only one in the house who is actually able to get anything done. She often comes to the aid of the boys and begrudgingly helps them. Nadja is the perfect ESTJ. She is great at asserting herself and managing people, telling them what to do when the times come so they can get out of whatever messy situation they are in. Situations like these pop up a few times throughout both seasons, and one of the most notable times was when she went to rescue them from the witches in season 2.
4 Deacon - ESFP
In reality, Deacon just wants to be cool. It is said that his character is loosely based on Bela Lugosi's Dracula as each vampire from the film is based on a different famous vampire. Deacon just likes to have fun. He desperately wants to be the cool guy of the house and considers himself the young rebel of the household, as he is the newest vampire out of the main crew (he is only 183 years old).
Deacon practices erotic dance and is extremely fond of knitting. He is the perfect ESFP as he is always trying to entertain the others and gets rather jealous when other people get the spotlight. He just wants to make people smile and think he's cool.
3 Laszlo - ESTP
Laszlo is incredibly smart and creative. He paints, makes music, is into topiary sculpting, and apparently can act as completely different people whenever he feels like it. Laszlo is also extremely extroverted, he is never afraid to be totally himself and enjoys talking about himself and his past quite a lot. Laszlo is the perfect ESTP, which makes sense because it is one trait off from Deacon who he was inspired by. Laszlo is greatly perceptive of people and is rather enthusiastic about himself and his numerous skills.
2 Vlad - ENTP
Vladislav the Poker was loosely based on Gary Oldman's rendition of Dracula and has a never-ending rivalry with someone named The Beast. Vlad, played by Jermaine Clement, is the perfect ENTP. ENTPs are known for being incredibly smart and curious which Vlad portrays perfectly. He often plays the devil's advocate in situations and cannot resist a challenge nor bat fight and will do anything to get his way as he was a former tyrant who has killed many. Besides Petyr, Vlad is the oldest vampire in the house at 862 years old.
1 Nandor - ENTJ
Nandor likes to think of himself as the leader of the Staten Island vampires, something the others begrudgingly accepts. As a human, Nandor was known as Nandor the Relentless and was the bloodthirsty leader of Al Quolanudar, a kingdom that rapidly dissolved after he became a vampire and disappeared. Nandor is bold and imaginative and likes to believe he is strong-willed. He yearns to be that bloodthirsty ruler once more, but his heart seems to have softened.
