Dead MCU Characters Who Can Return In WandaVision | Screen Rant

WandaVision will be like no other TV show and movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, making it possible for it to bring back characters that have already died – and here’s who could return. The MCU as it’s now known began in 2008 with Jon Favreau’s Iron Man, which introduced Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark and set the basis for this connected universe. The first wave of movies of the MCU came to an end in 2019 with Spider-Man: Far From Home, and now fans are waiting for the highly anticipated phase 4 as well as the TV shows to be released on Disney+.

Contrary to what happened with the Marvel TV shows on Netflix, this new batch will be directly connected to the upcoming movies in the MCU, to the point where fans will have to keep up with them in order to fully understand the movies. First off is WandaVision, which takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame, where all the MCU heroes joined forces to defeat Thanos and his armies. WandaVision has a couple of particularities, such as tying in to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (with Scarlet Witch making an appearance in the movie) and bringing back characters who died prior to Avengers: Endgame.

As the title says, WandaVision will see the return of Vision (Paul Bettany), who died in Avengers: Infinity War before the snap, so he couldn’t be brought back when the Hulk undid Thanos’ snap. His return will be connected to Wanda’s powers, which can also help bring back other characters that have been dead for a while – and who, funny enough, died in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Here are the dead MCU characters who can return in WandaVision.

WandaVision will take Scarlet Witch and Vision to different decades and thus will have different sitcom styles. This hints at the series being based on Wanda’s reality-warping powers, which would make it possible for her to bring Vision back in some way and jump from one decade to the other, building a life with him in each one. It’s possible, however, that Scarlet Witch could bring Vision back for real in some way, whether through her own powers (which are derived from an Infinity Stone), through time travel, or by bringing Vision from another timeline in the multiverse, thus connecting with (and possibly kickstarting) Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Scarlet Witch’s brother, Quicksilver, was introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron but didn’t stay for long. Quicksilver didn’t make it out from the Battle of Sokovia alive, adding more heartbreak and loss to the life of Scarlet Witch. Age of Ultron’s Quicksilver was played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and at the same time, the character was being played by Evan Peters in Fox’s X-Men movies. Peters is rumored to have been cast in a “mystery role” in WandaVision, which could mean that his version of Quicksilver is making his debut on the MCU, connecting both sides of the Marvel universe. Of course, WandaVision’s play with reality could also make it possible for Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s version to appear, once more thanks to the multiverse.

With Vision back, is very possible that Ultron could return too. Vision and Ultron are connected through the Mind Stone, which made their existence possible. Bringing Vision back would also make it possible for Ultron to return, which could happen in different ways: Ultron could be an illusion that brings (more) chaos to the warped reality, the version of another universe, or Scarlet Witch could resurrect him subconsciously while bringing Vision back.
