The Bachelorette lead Tayshia Adams is geared up for the hometown dates. However, before that, five of her suitors will have to take lie detector tests, which is nothing but a laptop attached to a few bulbs, and probably operated by the show producers.
Tayshia is just left with seven suitors (or eight if Bennett is still lurking in the bushes). The recent episode featured Tayshia's 2-on-1 date with Noah Erb and Bennett Jordan. She knew she had to end this teenage boys' drama, and she did it by sending the Harvard grad home. Although she wasn't too happy about her decision, she moved on to the next step, which was the group date. Five guys - Ivan Hall, Riley Christian, Zac Clark, Brendan Morais and the troublemaker Noah, were put to the test by taking polygraph tests.
But the lie detector looked like the biggest scam of this season, and what was even more interesting that all these adult men fell for it. They looked nervous and genuinely took time to think and come up with the most diplomatic answer so that it would be easier for them to explain it later on. Have they never watched any true-crime documentaries and saw that a polygraph machine is never hooked to those flashing red and green light bulbs? Besides, why was the laptop only showing a continuous loop of a steady heartbeat? Why didn't it run faster when someone was lying? It is because it was all a lie, a faux. The Bachelorette producers probably knew that Riley had changed his name, and that's why they asked that question to intensify the drama.
And since cheating is a deal-breaker for Tayshia, they might have asked this question to every suitor, and the addiction specialist Zac was caught. However, it was later on revealed that he french-kissed a girl at a Bowl-a-Rama while dating someone else — in sixth grade! Well, it's still possible that he cheated multiple times and chose to talk about the most harmless one. It was also discovered that the oh-so-dreamy Brendan isn't quite certain about the 30-year-old Palm Springs native Tayshia because he is hesitant to meet her family. It might be foreshadowing by the producers because most spoilers have suggested that he DID leave the show voluntarily because he was not ready to be committed.
During the date, all the questions were asked by the temporary host, JoJo Fletcher, who isn't a technician specially qualified in conducting or administrating a polygraph test. Honestly, she isn't even trained to be a host at The Bachelorette. Still, this group date was a smart trick by the producers, and it was indeed quite entertaining.
