Amid Jax Taylor's recent departure announcement from Vanderpump Rules, newcomer Charli Burnett opted to send a little shade his way. This comes after Jax and his wife, Brittany Cartwright, announced their exit on Friday after eight seasons on the show.
The two SURvers ignited a social media feud earlier this year that boiled over into the season eight reunion. At the time, Jax wanted Charli and the other newcomers to respect him and the other OG cast members on the show. However, no one knew what was coming. Soon after the reunion, four cast members were fired over racial insensitivity. Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, and newcomers Max Boyens and Brett Caprioni were all axed due to their part in either accusing former cast member Faith Stowers of a crime she didn't commit or having their old racist tweets resurface. Over the summer, much of the cast made pregnancy announcements. Among them were Jax and Brittany, along with LaLa Kent, Scheana Shay, and an honorable mention of terminated star Stassi. But, along with Stassi, fans will not be able to see a Jax and Brittany baby welcoming on the show. The couple took to Instagram on Friday to announce their exit after years of starring on the show.
Fans of the show are well aware of the villainous role Jax played on the series. So, it's no surprise that some of his former co-stars are happy to see him go. Charli was a newcomer on season eight. But, in true Jax nature, he managed to create a feud with her that she still hasn't forgotten about. On December 5, the new SURver took to Twitter to seemingly address the departure announcement Jax made the day before. "I guess I know my role, and it’s employed,” she wrote along with a smiling emoji on Saturday. The comment appeared to reference shade Jax threw her way earlier this year during their online beef session. “Last time [I] checked, 50-year-old men are the only reason that chic[k] can survive in this town,” he tweeted earlier this year. “Know your role sweetie. Don’t throw rocks in glass houses.” Check out Charli's shady tweet below:
Jax's shady remark came during part one of the season eight reunion, where Charli referred to Jax as an “old man,” a “bully” and “retired.” The OG Pumper fired back at the newcomer, telling her to learn “her role.” Now, she made it clear that she has. On Friday, Jax released a statement sharing that "Brittany and I will not be returning for another season of Vanderpump Rules." After a fan asked why he was leaving after so many years on the spin-off series, Jax replied, “I am 41 with a baby on the way … was the best choice for my whole family.” The couple is expecting their first child in February 2021. There were initially reports that Jax was fired from the show and didn't leave on his own.
The current status of filming for season nine remains a mystery as restaurants in Los Angeles remain closed due to the ongoing pandemic. However, Andy Cohen has confirmed that the show is still a go and a shift is coming in the new season.
