After walking away from WWE, the man once known as Dean Ambrose is in the middle of a creative resurgence as AEW's Jon Moxley. Moxley isn't a stranger to acting, as he starred in WWE's 12 Rounds 3: Lockdown and MMA film Cagefighter: World's Collide, being the best thing about both films.
Moxley may seem laid back on the surface, but there is a fire in his eyes that makes him worthy of a career on the silver screen. A ticket to film stardom could be obtained via a role as a DC Comics character, but which ones are in his wheelhouse?
10 Perfect For Him: Guy Gardner
Everyone's favorite least favorite Green Lantern is a role that Moxley could excel at. Though that sounds like a backhanded compliment, that isn't the intention, as Moxley has what it takes to make the under-appreciated Green Lantern a household name.
This character could prove personal for Moxley as well, as, from the little bit of his personal life that he has allowed to slip out, he grew up in a bad neighborhood and got up to some bad behavior. Moxley and Gardner certainly have a lot in common and Moxley's understated sense of humor makes him perfect for the role.
9 Couldn't Do It: John Constantine
Though there are a lot of things that Jon Moxley and John Constantine have in common, there are a few things that prevent him from being a shoo-in for the role. Designed to look like the music artist Sting, the problem isn't that Moxley doesn't look anything like Sting, it's merely because he just doesn't fit John Constantine.
Visually, Moxley and Constantine are on completely different planets, but the core issue is that Moxley is an American from Ohio and Constantine is a dyed-in-the-wool Brit. The last time someone from The United States played Constantine it didn't go well, so it's best to cast someone from The U.K. in the role of The Hellblazer.
8 Perfect For Him: Green Arrow
Recently, Arrow actor Stephen Amell did a half-decent job as a wrestler, so why not cast a wrestler as Green Arrow? Though Oliver Queen doesn't seem to have many things in common with Jon Moxley, the AEW star is right for the role.
First off, Moxley is a funny man, with a sense of humor being required to do The Emerald Archer justice. Also, despite being regarded as one of the wealthiest DC characters, Green Arrow was perhaps at his best when he was a less affluent man, something Moxley could work with.
7 Couldn't Do It: Lobo
It isn't that Moxley doesn't have Lobo in him, it's just that...there are more interesting casting choices out there for the former Dean Ambrose. Moxley is a big wrestler with a lone biker aesthetic who loves being hardcore, so it's a little obvious to cast him as The Main Man.
That is exactly why he shouldn't play Lobo, it's just too obvious. Sometimes actors do their best work in roles that no one sees them in, so giving Moxley a DC mainstay that no one could foresee would perhaps be more beneficial to him than just giving him a character like Lobo.
6 Perfect For Him: Booster Gold
There is a lot more that The Greatest Hero You've Never Heard Of could offer to Moxley than you would believe. Just on a visual level, Moxley looks a lot like Booster Gold, even having a lot of height to him just like the character.
As previously stated, Moxley has a keen sense of humor, and with Booster Gold being one of DC's funniest characters, Moxley could truly shine as the character. Just hire writers that are better than whoever had him covering other wrestlers in mustard while he was in WWE and he'd be set!
5 Couldn't Do It: Sinestro
One of DC's most interesting villains is Sinestro, with the former Green Lantern having a unique relationship with the hero he fights. However there is a core part of him that means that Moxley, despite that the fact that he can play comedic goofballs, grizzled brawlers, and cold-hearted murderers, just wouldn't click with him.
The founder of The Sinestro Corps is a classic champagne villain, a Machiavellian schemer that has a sympathetic quality yet no qualms about enslaving his entire race to ensure its survival. While Moxley may secretly be able to play Sinestro, there are simply too many other actors who are safer bets.
4 Perfect For Him: Lex Luthor
With Jesse Eisenberg's divisive portrayal of Lex Luthor in the rearview mirror, perhaps it's time for a more understated version of Superman's greatest villain. Jon Moxley certainly can pull off an understated heel, but what gives him the x-factor here?
Luthor is famously a lot more muscular in the comics which is something Moxley has in spades, but there is something more. Moxley gained some attention for airing his grievances with WWE's head honcho Vince McMahon, so perhaps he could use his experiences with McMahon to play another ruthless billionaire.
3 Couldn't Do It: Superman
Though Jon Moxley may be able to pull of Lex Luthor, there's just too much of a disconnect from The Man of Steel. Jon Moxley was raised in the city, Superman was raised in the country. Jon Moxley is a self-admitted loner, Superman is a people person. Jon tends to work best as a darker character, Superman is a beacon of hope.
If anything, Jon has more in common with The New 52 version of Superman, which is a version best left in the dustbin of history. While he may not have much in common with Superman on the surface, as with all of these characters, there is always a chance that Jon Moxley could prove this call wrong.
2 Perfect For Him: Batman
As Moxley's WWE run proved, you can pretty up a man, but the chains designed to bind the inferno of violence in his heart will forever be flimsy. In DC Comics, there is no one who knows what that means more than The Dark Knight, who pretties himself up in the daytime as Bruce Wayne, but at night he unleashes the violent rage that he buries within as Batman.
Though The DCEU is hopefully not starving for a new Batman, The CW's ever-growing universe could perhaps use a certain Caped Crusader. Despite Warren Christie's Thomas Elliot nefariously masquerading as Bruce Wayne in Batwoman, perhaps Crisis On Infinite Earths may have brought Earth One's Gotham a different, more violent Dark Knight.
1 Couldn't Do It: The Flash
With Flash actor Ezra Miller still attached to an upcoming solo flick despite some bad press, a recasting seems less than likely. That being said, should the role ever need to be recast, maybe Jon Moxley shouldn't audition for it.
Barry Allen, the only version of The Flash Moxley is even close to playing, is very different from Jon, with the character being a nerd. Moxley has an earnest streak to him, but a nerd is something he 110 percent is not. In fact, Moxley might be better for Reverse Flash as opposed to the original.
