Chris Hemsworth shares a very low-budget Thor: Love and Thunder poster featuring him and director Taika Waititi. Marvel Studios gave the god of thunder a tonal makeover with Thor: Ragnarok by bringing Waititi aboard. After two Shakespearan and more serious solo films, the writer/director injected Thor's movies with an overwhelming comedic nature, a crazier story, and more zany visuals. This led to Thor: Ragnarok saving the franchise and Marvel Studios quickly working to bring Waititi and Hemsworth back for another go-around.
Hemsworth and Waititi have been hard at work on Thor: Love and Thunder since the beginning of 2021 when production kicked off in Australia. It didn't take long for set photos to surface showing Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy on a new adventure and sporting new looks. However, Marvel Studios has done a fairly good job of keeping additional looks at the highly anticipated MCU blockbuster under wraps. Fans are now patiently waiting for some official Thor: Love and Thunder marketing materials to arrive, and Hemsworth has delivered a very low-budget, unofficial first poster.
In a new Instagram post, Hemsworth had fun sharing the first Thor: Love and Thunder "poster." The image shows him and Waititi in a trailer on the set of Thor 4. Hemsworth is wearing a baseball hat with the movie's logo on it and a wig for Thor's long locks underneath. Waititi is directly behind his right shoulder striking a pose for the poster. According to Hemsworth, this Thor: Love and Thunder poster has a clear message that there will be plenty of love and thunder in the movie. Check out the photo below:
This first "poster" is another example of how Hemsworth and Waititi continue to have fun during their second collaboration. It is clear that the two of them are loving working together in the MCU again. Not only is Waititi directing Hemsworth and having fun in that regard, but he is also reprising his role as Korg in Thor: Love and Thunder. This should put Hemsworth and Waititi on set filming scenes together once more, and we can only imagine the type of shenanigans that take place when they become screen partners.
As for when Thor: Love and Thunder's marketing will actually begin, fans should be prepared to wait a while longer. The movie isn't even done filming at the moment. There are also five MCU movies that will be released prior to Thor 4's theatrical release. Marvel Studios' marketing focus will be on those movies, plus all of the MCU Disney+ shows, for the time being. Instead, the marketing campaign for Thor: Love and Thunder will likely begin by the end of 2021, given its May 2022 release date. Perhaps the first trailer will be released ahead of Eternals' release in November.
