EA Sports' FIFA 21 enables players to turn out as the biggest and best stars in the soccer world. Whether you're a fan of titans such as Manchester United and Real Madrid or prefer smaller sides such as Stevenage Town or Dundalk, it's a game that caters for everybody. And it allows you to play out your footballing fantasies, however you like them.
FIFA ratings are a big deal, separating the best from the rest. If you're new to the game, it'll tell you who the top players are and if you're a veteran, you can debate on whether or not these players, all ranked 90 or higher, are properly scored.
12 Alisson Becker: 90
Liverpool had struggled with goalkeepers prior to Alisson Becker's arrival two years ago. Loris Karius dropped a clanger in the 2019 Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid, while the likes of Jerzy Dudek and Simon Mignolet never entirely convinced during their spells between the sticks.
But the Reds have been better ever since bringing Alisson to the club, with the Brazil international star getting an overall rating of 90. He's helped them win the Premier League title and if he can continue to shine, he'll become the stuff of Anfield legend.
11 Marc-Andre Ter Stegen: 90
It took Marc-Andre Ter Stegen some time for his Barcelona career to take off. Signed from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer transfer window of 2014, he was initially Claudio Bravo's understudy in Catalonia. However, he's never looked back after getting his chance to shine after Bravo was sold in 2016.
Ter Stegen has been one of Barcelona's best players during a problematic era for the La Liga titans and that's why he's been given 90 as well. Without him, there's a chance the Catalan side would have experienced even more issues over the course of the season.
10 Sadio Mane: 90
The 2020/2021 season has been difficult at times for Sadio Mane, with the Liverpool star failing to produce the same mesmeric performances as years gone by. But, after propelling Jurgen Klopp's side to Premier League glory last year, he was always going to get a high rating for FIFA 21.
A score of 90 is nothing to be sniffed at and the Senegal international is deserving of it. Liverpool will hope he rediscovers his mojo next term, however, as they look to win the title back.
9 Mohamed Salah: 90
Before moving to Liverpool from Roma back in 2017, Mohamed Salah was seen as a flop within the Premier League. After all, he'd toiled during a brief spell at Chelsea during Jose Mourinho's time in charge at Stamford Bridge. But, ever since moving to Liverpool, the Egyptian has scored with unnerving regularity.
Salah's stats mean he probably deserves higher than 90, but that's what EA has chosen to give him. He's been Liverpool's top scorer again this season and could yet win the Premier League Golden Boot award.
8 Kylian Mbappe: 90
Kylian Mbappe has enjoyed a rapid rise to superstardom in recent years. He propelled Monaco to Ligue 1 title glory back in 2017 before earning himself a massive £166million move to Paris Saint-Germain. The youngster has continued to excel over in France, establishing himself as one of the best young players on the planet in the process.
Mbappe is very much the future of the sport and is actually the FIFA 21 cover star. He starts off at 90 but, if treated right in career mode, can get even better.
7 Virgil van Dijk: 90
Liverpool was criticized when they spent a world-record fee of £70m on Virgil van Dijk back in January 2018. Yet the Netherlands international has proven to be worth every penny in the time since.
Van Dijk helped them reach the Champions League final in 2018, win the prestigious trophy the following year, and also played a vital role as they won the Premier League 12 months ago. He's spent most of the season injured, and the Reds are significantly worse off for it.
6 Jan Oblak: 91
Atletico Madrid have had many good goalkeepers over the years, from David De Gea to Thibaut Courtois. But Jan Oblak may just be the best of the bunch, with the Slovenia international establishing himself as one of the best players in world football over the years.
Oblak was named in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season 12 months ago and has helped Diego Simeone's side enjoy another successful campaign. There's long been talk of a potential departure but, if that's to happen, it'll be for a premium fee.
5 Neymar Jr: 91
Questions have long been asked about Neymar Jr., the talented Paris Saint-Germain star. He's won trophies all throughout his career, including the Champions League with Barcelona and he's one of the most skillful players on the entire planet.
Therefore, his rating of 91 is no surprise. Neymar is worth every penny and a formidable weapon for anybody keen on FIFA 21. He's entering the peak years of his career, meaning he should only get better.
4 Kevin De Bruyne: 91
Manchester City have dominated the Premier League in recent years, particularly ever since Pep Guardiola waltzed into town as Manuel Pellegrini's replacement back in 2016. And a big part of their success has been the form of Kevin De Bruyne.
The Belgium international gets better with each passing year and it's no surprise he's one of FIFA 21's best performers. He's recently helped his side win the Premier League for a third time in four years and, if he keeps up this form, further silverware is expected to follow.
3 Robert Lewandowski: 91
Robert Lewandowski burst onto the scene for Borussia Dortmund during the Jurgen Klopp era and, since joining Bayern Munich, hasn't looked back.
The Poland international has been the Bundesliga's top scorer five times over the last seven years, with only Alexander Meier and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stopping him from clocking up seven triumphs in a row. He fired Bayern to Champions League glory last year, which further justifies his rating of 91.
2 Cristiano Ronaldo: 92
Taking home the silver medal is Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo, who needs no introduction.
He's scored goals all across his career, whether that be in Turin, at Real Madrid, at Manchester United, or with Sporting Lisbon and is the world's most-followed person on Instagram. He's still showing no signs of slowing down at the age of 36 and it'll be fascinating to see how the rest of his career plays out.
1 Lionel Messi: 93
Barcelona have endured a rough couple of seasons but, while that's the case, Lionel Messi has continued to deliver the goods. It has reached such an extent that he remains the best player on FIFA 21, just like he was in the previous edition of EA's franchise.
Messi is Barcelona's record scorer and also tops the charts when it comes to statistics in La Liga, too. A modern-day great, there's arguably never been a better player to step onto the football pitch. And whether he's able to one day win the World Cup, the biggest trophy that's evaded him so far, remains to be seen.
