Tessa Thompson has taken to social media to confirm that Valkyrie survived Thanos' snap in Avengers: Infinity War. According to the actress, Valkyrie is fine - and she's "thriving."
The cliffhanger ending of Infinity War saw Thanos commit genocide on a galactic scale. The Mad Titan snapped his fingers, and half the life in the universe was erased from existence in a matter of moments. Horrified viewers watched as iconic heroes such as Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Star-Lord crumbled to dust before their eyes. Since then, Marvel has gradually revealed which secondary characters made it out of Infinity War alive. Angela Bassett confirmed that Ramonda and Shuri survived, Aunt May wasn't dusted, and Thor's roommate Daryl is still in the land of the living. The list of the lost includes both Lady Sif and Betty Ross, though.

Now, Tessa Thompson has confirmed that her character Valkyrie is numbered among the survivors. When one fan asked on Twitter whether or not Valkyrie had disintegrated, Thompson gave a simple reply, unequivocally shooting down the notion that the elite Asgardian warrior had died. Her reply can be seen below.
In truth, most viewers had already suspected Valkyrie was fine. She was one of the Asgardian refugees to escape Thanos' wrath; although her fate wasn't shown in Avengers: Infinity War, dialogue confirmed that Thanos had spared half of the Asgardians. Ironically enough, though, they'll then have been struck by another disaster when Thanos snapped his fingers, and another half of the survivors faded away. But it seems Valkyrie wasn't one of the countless billions killed by Thanos.
Valkyrie is set to play some sort of role in Avengers 4. Tessa Thompson was on set in Edinburgh back in May last year; more recently, she headed to Atlanta for a couple of days, coincidentally at the same time Chris Hemsworth was in the city as well. Marvel Studios is currently filming reshoots for next year's Avengers epic, and it seems highly likely that's why Thompson was around.
Valkyrie may have been one of the most popular characters in Thor: Ragnarok, but she was entirely absent from Infinity War. While this seems to be something of a stumble on Marvel's part, it's likely because of the logistical challenge of producing so many films at such a high speed. By the time Marvel realized how much of a hit they had with Valkyrie, it was far too late to adjust the script of Infinity War. Marvel had a similar issue with Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther, whose role in the team-up film was surprisingly small given the success of his solo film. Hopefully these issues have been corrected for next year.
