How To Unlock Origins' Bayek In Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Assassin's Creed Odyssey builds a lot on the framework set by predecessor Assassin's Creed Origins, and it turns out that the hero of Origins, Bayek, can be unlocked in the new game. Even though Bayek is alive a considerable amount of time after the plot of Assassin's Creed Odyssey takes place, nonetheless the character is around to assist in the midst of the Peloponnesian War.

It's a suitable tribute to Origins, given the groundwork that the title made for the game that came after it. All in all, Assassin's Creed Odyssey doubles down on what worked about Origins, resulting in a fantastic game that lives up to its phenomenal setting. Even so, it's always nice to have a link back to the previous games, and Odyssey has now added another connection to the larger Assassin's Creed world.

As such, Bayek is available in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. The character can be unlocked as one of the lieutenants on the Adrestia, the trireme that the misthios uses to travel around Greece. This means that Bayek is not a playable character in the game, but nonetheless will prove very handy in naval battles, providing both a buff to the Adrestia itself and an ally when boarding other vessels. Bayek is available as an Ubisoft Club reward, as revealed below.

Bayek is available as an extra bit of content, and actually comes at quite a low price in terms of points. To get Bayek, the player simply has to access the Ubisoft Club and claim Bayek for 40 Units. Having him around will come in handy, although certainly isn't necessary; after all, there are plenty of other lieutenants around to help get the best ending, and as such this is more of a nice bonus for players who also enjoyed Origins. As his role is primarily focused on naval combat, it also means he won't be all that useful for most of the Conquest Battles, either.

Interestingly enough, Bayek is not the only returning main character from a previous Assassin's Creed game. Evie Frye from Assassin's Creed Syndicate also appears in the game, swapping out the smoke of Victorian London for a more picturesque setting. Once again, Evie is available as an additional lieutenant for the player's ship, and is unlocked via the Ubisoft Club.

When it comes down to it, this is a neat little addition for fans of the series. It might not be an essential extra, particularly for those who aren't long-term fans of the series or those who did not play Origins, but it's good to have the option. Plus, having a Legendary-level lieutenant around will certainly help with those Assassin's Creed Odyssey basics.
