You Can Stop Hoping For a Diablo 4 Announcement At Blizzcon

Blizzard may be teasing that they have "multiple" Diablo projects in development but don't expect the most anticipated of them to be announced this week at Blizzcon 2018. If you're looking for that inevitable Diablo 4 unveiling, look deeper into the future.

We already know a Diablo TV series is in development for Netflix, that Diablo 3 is coming to the Nintendo Switch this year, and there will be some Diablo news at Blizzcon - specifically on November 2nd - but beyond that, Blizzard has been slashing expectations for eager fans.

The leaked "Diablo: Reign of Terror" title Blizzard vaguely shot down as something not directly related to "content" at the show, whatever that means, and on a new blog post Blizzard essentially wants you to stop hoping and expecting for a Diablo 4 announcement soon even though the game is all but officially announced to be in development:

These are very exciting times—we currently have multiple teams working on different Diablo projects and we can’t wait to tell you all about them . . . when the time is right.

We know what many of you are hoping for and we can only say that “good things come to those who wait,” but evil things often take longer. We appreciate your patience as our teams work tirelessly to create nightmarish experiences worthy of the Lord of Terror.

While we won’t be ready to announce all of our projects, we do intend to share some Diablo-related news with you at the show.

Blizzard continues by thanking fans for their support and patience and teasing November 2nd as not only the release date of Diablo 3 on Switch but the start of Blizzcon 2018. Look forward to the event for potential news and reveals for other Blizzard properties too, from World of Warcraft and Hearthstone to Heroes of the Storm and Overwatch.

We'll be at the event and fans can watch Blizzcon from home by purchasing a "Virtual Ticket" which also gives buyers access to the World of Warcraft Classic At-Home Demo, exclusive videos and more. For details and pricing, on the Blizzcon 2018 Virtual Ticket, head here.
