Next year, Disney will be bringing the beloved galaxy far, far away to Disneyland and Disney World resorts with a Star Wars theme park, Galaxy's Edge, and today fans learned more about the new Star Wars-themed hotel at Disney World. Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products chairman Bob Chapek unveiled new concept art that showcases the shuttle pod transportation at the hotel. While you may not be actually flying around in a Star Wars spacecraft during your visit, it sure will feel like it.
Chapek unveiled this artwork at D23's Destination D: Celebrating Mickey Mouse fan event, where it was also revealed that John Williams will compose the original score for Galaxy's Edge. Fans were treated to a preview of the new music, while they also got a glimpse at two new attractions, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run & Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. For those who will be visiting the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge resort at Disney World, the concept art teases how your interactive journey will begin.

The Disney Parks Blog debuted this concept art, which reveals that your interactive journey at this hotel begins in these transport pods. The concept art shows a family waiting in their launch pod, which kicks off a, "fully-immersive, multi-day Star Wars adventure aboard a luxury starship". This experience includes, "high-end dining, space-view cabins and all of the exciting action you would expect from an authentic Star Wars experience."
"We are currently in the midst of one of the most extraordinary periods of expansion in our history,” Chapek said in a statement. "We are always pushing the boundaries of what’s possible as we deliver world-class experiences and attractions, new hotels and entertainment, itineraries and destinations for our guests." The concept art unveiled today also shows how the pod "docks" with a much larger starship to start this immersive experience.
The Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge theme parks are currently under construction, with the Disneyland attraction slated to open next summer and the Disney World resort slated to open next fall. The Galaxy's Edge cantina will also be historic, since it breaks the Disneyland longstanding ban on alcohol in the resort. It remains to be seen whether or not there will be any ties to the highly-anticipated Star Wars: Episode IX - which is slated for release in December 2019 - but even if there aren't any tie-ins right away, that could certainly change in the future.
