Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and the rest of the Toy Story gang are joined by newcomer "Forky" in the Toy Story 4 teaser trailer. The teaser also includes an updated synopsis that reveals the film takes the beloved Toy Story characters on a brand-new "road trip adventure".
A lot has changed since Toy Story 4 was announced back in 2014. The film was originally going to be directed by John Lasseter, written by Will McCormack and Rashida Jones (Celeste and Jesse Forever), and follow Woody and Buzz on an adventure to find Bo Peep. Since then, however, Lasseter, McCormack, and Jones have all left the project and Josh Cooley (cowriter of Inside Out) is now directing solo from a script by Stephany Folsom (an uncredited writer on Thor: Ragnarok). It seems the film's core storyline has changed too, based on the new synopsis.
