BoJack has been one of Netflix's biggest successes and has tackled serious stigmas surrounding mental health whilst luring fans with the vibrant, colorful world of anthropomorphic characters. With the show coming to a close, here are ten things fans want to see during the final season of BoJack Horseman.
10 BoJack's Recovery
Season five ended at a crossroads for titular character BoJack (voiced by Will Arnett). The troubled horse struggled with an addiction to prescription medication following an accident on-set for his new show, Philbert. This climaxes with BoJack, in the throes of a paranoid, drug-fueled rage, assaulting his co-star and girlfriend Gina (Stephanie Beatriz) whilst filming an episode.
BoJack appears to have finally accepted he needs help, allowing Diane (Allison Brie) to take him to rehab during the season finale "The Stopped Show." The trailer for season six shows a rejuvenated BoJack embracing life again, and hopefully, the horse will find some closure soon.
9 Princess Carolyn Struggles With Motherhood
Princess Carolyn (Amy Sedaris) has spent the previous seasons striving towards motherhood, finally achieving her goal "The Stopped Show" after adopting birthmother Sadie's (Jaime Pressly) newborn baby. Now that she is finally a mother, however, will PC be able to juggle her new responsibility with the commitments she had made to her career?
Fans have watched as the high-functioning agent has struggled to become a mother, though her difficulties are far from over. Now PC must face the reality of motherhood and come to terms with whether or not she made the right decision.
8 Mr.Peanutbutter Gets Sad
Mr. Peanutbutter (Paul F.Tompkins) has been the lovable, upbeat comedy character that has sustained the light-hearted side of BoJack Horseman. It seems illogical to want to see him express some sadness, but if BoJack wants to continue the discussion surrounding mental health then even Mr.Peanutbutter must confront his demons.
The final season seems to be focusing on recovery. BoJack is embracing a new mindset after leaving rehab and the theme of closure seems to be hanging heavy over the heads of the characters.
7 The World Discovers What Happened In New Mexico
In season three's "Escape From L.A," BoJack almost makes a dire mistake. After fleeing the chaos of Los Angeles to live 0n a boat in New Mexico in his former friend Charlotte's (Olivia Wilde) garden, BoJack is propositioned by her seventeen-year-old daughter Penny (IIana Glazer) and hesitates before being interrupted by Charlotte, leaving fans to speculate whether or not he would have eventually agreed.
BoJack asked Diane to expose him during season five, wanting repentance for his misdeeds. It would be true to BoJack's style if the truth were to be finally revealed after BoJock begins to recover, testing his self-restraint.
6 Return Of Hollyhock
BoJack's illegitimate younger sister Hollyhock (Aparna Nancherla) was a welcome addition to the cast during the fourth season of the show. Originally thought to be his daughter, it is revealed that she is the result of an affair between BoJack's father and the maid through an episode that peers into the fragmented mind of Beatrice (Wendie Mallick).
Hollyhock made an appearance in season five's "Ancient History" and the rapport between her and BoJack is delivered well. As the upcoming season will be the last installment for the series, it is near certain her character will appear again.
5 Apology To Gina
Gina was another welcome addition to the fifth season of BoJack Horseman. Her relationship with BoJack seemed to be sincere, though was destroyed when the troubled horse strangled her on-set in a drug-addled state.
This is covered up, with Gina's approval. In a grim reflection on real-life Hollywood and celebrity culture, Gina tells BoJack that she doesn't want to be "the girl that got strangled by BoJack Horseman." Hopefully, she will receive the apology and closure that she deserves next season.
4 Princess Carolyn And Ralph Reunite
Princess Carolyn looks set to be struggling with motherhood in the upcoming season, particularly as she juggles her new baby and her job which she has sacrificed so much for. Considering the lingering chemistry between PC and Ralph (Raul Esparza) a reunion between the former lovers may be on the cards.
Ralph has made it clear that he wants to raise a family with Princess Carolyn, and it would be a sweet moment in a sure-to-be bittersweet final season of BoJack for her character to find happiness.
3 Happiness For Todd
If any character in BoJack Horseman deserves happiness, it is Todd (Aaron Paul). He is the only character who has been a consistently good person throughout the series, maintaining the comedy elements of the show even during its darkest storylines.
Todd has had a series of adventures throughout the series, brightening the tone of the show with his antics. It would be a nice moment for fans to see this beloved character have a happy ending to his story.
2 Closure For Diane & Mr.Peanutbutter
The relationship between Diane and Mr.Peanutbutter has been tumultuous and tear-jerking, with both characters struggling through marriage and subsequent divorce. The two gave into passion once more during season five, and despite the happy-go-lucky Labrador getting engaged again, his feelings for his ex-wife remain evident.
There is nothing to suggest that Diane and Mr.Peanutbutter would be happy if they were to reconcile, as their marriage was far from happy. Still, the two certainly need closure on this chapter of their story.
1 BoJack & Diane Confront Their Feelings
BoJack and Diane are kindred spirits. Despite being vastly different people, they share several reluctant similarities that have forged a bond between the unlikely friends, as well as a possible hint towards romance.
Regardless of the outcome, BoJack and Diane should confront the unspoken truth between them for the final season of BoJack Horseman.
