Since Brooklyn Nine-Nine is set in a police precinct, the characters of the show can be seen as some of the most morally righteous people you would ever meet. However, that does not mean that the squad is perfect. Now and then, each character has done something that could have let a member of the squad down or affected the friendship they have with their co-workers.

10 Pimento: His violent and creepy behavior
Pimento has to be one of the weirdest guys on the force. He makes Hitchcock and Scully look normal - and that's saying something. When Pimento first arrives back at the precinct, he accidentally takes Jake hostage. He reveals that he became very defensive after being undercover, with numerous people attempting to take his life.
While he tries to adjust back to civilian life, Pimento's behavior turns even more aggressive. He nearly scars Nikolaj when he breaks into Boyle's apartment and hides in the boy's closest ("Monster in the Closet"). Holt doesn't even bat an eyelid when he says he was forced to eat his co-pilot's tongue and had a taste for it. Pimento wasn't fit to be on the squad.
9 Scully: Scamming the squad for money
One of the smartest and funniest schemes Scully had ever come up with was the birthday scam. This all occurred in the cold open of "USPIS" when Hitchcock confronts each member of the squad and tells them they forgot about Scully's birthday. He also adds that no one showed up for his birthday party.
As an apology for not turning up, the squad decides to do a collection for him. However, all is not what it seems as Hitchcock and Scully laugh as they walk away. Hitchcock then calls Scully a genius for coming up with the "fake birthday con", splitting the money between the pair. It's a clever con, but too harsh to be scamming your friends out of their money.
8 Hitchcock: Inappropriate behavior in the workplace
It's hard to pinpoint the worst thing Hitchcock has ever done when he is the embodiment of Mr. Inappropriate. Especially in the episode "Chasing Amy" when the squad has to find the detective after she goes missing.
Whilst Jake and Rosa are contemplating where Amy could be, Hitchcock arrives and says she wasn't in the ladies' bathroom. He then says he would go check again just to be sure. Rosa then comments that she has never seen him walk with such a purpose as they see him striding towards the facility. He would have had a serious talk with HR after this one as it is an invasion of privacy.
7 Gina: Bullying in the workplace
Gina has gotten mixed reviews from fans. Some viewers love her because of her honesty and bluntness. However, others have disliked her for her narcissistic and bully-like behavior.
For instance, Gina has been seen to sexually harass Terry. She also disrespects Amy by insulting her clothes and interests. Let’s not forget the torment Charles faced daily, the worst being when Gina threw a stapler at him and didn’t even get reprimanded for it. She may have calmed down by the end but there were a lot of terrible things she did that went unpunished.
6 Terry: He Ruined Captain Dozerman's funeral
Terry is the most considerate member of the squad, so he hardly ever puts a foot wrong. However, he did show his irresponsible side when it came to Captain Dozerman's funeral. At the beginning of "The Funeral", Terry holds a briefing, asking the squad to be respectful and on their best behavior.
However, Terry finds Holt drowning his sorrows at Shaw's bar. He ends up missing the event and getting drunk with the Captain. Terry then makes a scene at Dozerman's wake, making a toast about his mango yogurt being discontinued. When the crowd reacts badly, he then equates the loss of his dairy product to Dozerman's death. Who would have thought Terry would be one to cause a drama?
5 Charles: A Lack of personal boundaries
Boyle has proven that he can be a great friend, but boy, does he need to learn how to keep out of everyone’s business - especially when he gets involved in matters that do not concern him, such as Jake and Amy’s relationship.
For instance, in the episode “The Fugitive: Part 1”, Boyle partners up with Amy on the case that demand they recapture the escaped prisoners. Whilst they are using the thermal heat goggles, Boyle comments that Amy is ovulating “like crazy”. It’s not the first time he has made comments like such, which have forced other members of the squad to reprimand him on his inappropriate behavior.
4 Rosa: Attacking Boyle for not inviting her to his wedding
Rosa hardly makes any errors when it comes to her professional life. However, there have been times where she has had to improve her social skills, especially when she attacked Boyle for not inviting her to his and Vivian's wedding.
As fans know, Charles had an overbearing crush on Rosa that was seen to put her in an uncomfortable position. The pair became firm friends once he began dating Vivian. However, they run into a problem when Charles doesn't give Rosa a save-the-date. Instead of confronting him, Rosa attacks him with an Ultrasonic Weapon, makes him burn himself with his coffee and shoots him with a paintball gun. It's a bit much when all she had to do was ask him why she wasn't invited.
3 Amy: Faking a pregnancy to win a heist
We all know how much the gang values their heist games. However, sometimes they can bring out the worst qualities in each other. In the “Cinco de Mayo” episode, the game brought out the worst in Amy when she tells Jake that she is pregnant - an idea Holt proposed to her.
It may not seem harsh but considering the debate they had in “Casecation”, it seems a little insensitive to be using this as a play to win the heist. Especially when the viewer can see the sheer joy on Jake’s face when she announces the news. She’s lucky that it didn’t backfire on her.
2 Holt: Choosing professional life over personal
There's no doubt that Holt isn't the most sociable person in the squad, but he has said on numerous occasions that his family is important to him. He was seen to be rather close to with his nephew, Marcus, and he was quite upset to hear that his mother had been keeping secrets about her personal life.
Yet, when it came to his sister, Debbie, he didn't want her to visit because she overwhelmed him. He then takes advice off of Gina and does all he can to drive Debbie away from the precinct. However, Holt then acts all shocked when Debbie reveals that she only came to visit because her husband left her. It only served to highlight that he prioritizes his professional life over everything else - which is something he should try to improve on.
1 Jake: His Treatment of Charles
Out of all the characters on the show, Jake has had the biggest development. Where he is now one of the most selfless and considerate detectives, Jake was the complete opposite at the beginning. He was irresponsible, reckless and a poor team player. Not to mention how much he took advantage of Charles' friendship.
A prime example being in the episode "M.E. Time" when Jake proves himself to be an insubordinate secondary. He then defies Charles' orders and prevents him from closing the case by flirting with the coroner. Jake also got upset when Charles prioritizes Nikolaj over him, becoming jealous over the lack of attention he received. While Boyle does adore their friendship, Jake needs to learn that Charles' other responsibilities have to come first too.
