Supernatural: 10 Most Hated Supporting Characters | ScreenRant

Supernatural is a show known for many factors. Gore, lore, and core. Meaning, its horror, its monsters and myths, and its foundation: the Winchester brothers. There are plenty of characters we know and love that have been on the show. Whether we saw them in one episode, or twenty, we looked forward to their appearances (especially if they had previously died and were brought back somehow). Rowena, Charlie, Crowley, Jody. We could go on and on about our favorites. Yet, there were a few characters in the mix that didn't quite strike our fancy in the way other characters did. That said, here are 10 of SPN's most hated supporting characters.

10 Bela Talbot

The thing about Bela is that she's savvy. Savvy in business, savvy with money, savvy with the supernatural...you get the gist. She came off as standoffish and cruel, and somewhat echoing sociopath, mostly because of the way she dealt with the Winchesters. Shooting Sam without a second thought? Having Dean's precious Impala towed away? Stealing the lottery winnings of the Winchester boys? Just some of the items on her to-do list. Fans never really liked her, but you have to give her props for her consistent ability to outwit the Winchesters--that's no easy feat.

9 Gordon Walker

Gordon may have been a good hunter, but he wasn't a good person. He was ruthless enough to become a hunter just so he could track down his sister and the vampire that had turned her, killing them without a second thought. He wasn't much for sympathy and understanding. Though he and Dean initially got off on the right foot, that soon changed. Especially when Gordon tried to murder Sam after finding out Sam was one of the "special children."

Karma gets him back in the worst way when a vampire with a grudge for hunters turns Gordon as punishment, and Sam later kills him. Gordon's death and the circumstances behind it were exceptionally monstrous, but when you sign up for the hunting life it's part of the risk package.

8 Becky Rosen

Becky isn't necessarily evil, just severely misguided. Her infatuation with Sam was a touch much, enough to make anyone uncomfortable. She could be annoying at times but seemed like a sweet person. You can sympathize with why she is the way she is given her lonely past, but it doesn't excuse her obnoxious behavior or her cunning tactics (notably when she used a potion on Sam and basically forced him to marry her). Recently we saw that Becky moved on and created a good life for herself, so perhaps she just needed some time to iron things out. Still, she's not exactly topping the favorites list.

7 Samuel Campbell

Mary's father isn't most people's cup of tea. He doesn't scream friendly and he was kind of harsh with Mary, not really understanding her need to get out of hunting and live a normal life. Why couldn't he just be happy for her and support her dreams? Not to mention his return in Season 6 was unsettling.

He wasn't exactly a fan-favorite then, either. He sold out his grandsons to Crowley for Mary without remorse, and he flaunted his supernatural knowledge arrogantly, though he would use it to help others. In terms of grandfathers, we like Henry Winchester better.

6 Lady Toni Bevell

She tortured Sam. She tried to brainwash Mary. She was oftentimes emotionless and seemed so robotic she couldn't possibly pass for human. While Toni had been brainwashed by the British Men of Letters herself, it was no excuse for the way she treated others. She especially detested American hunters. She's not really a character that you can relate to, and most of her actions were simply awful. Hence, she's a necessary addition to this list.

5 Ruby

Ruby didn't seem so bad in Season 3. She seemed like a demon trying to redeem herself. By Season 4 however, it's fair to say much of the SPN fandom loathed her, and still do to this day. It turns out she wanted to free Lilith all along and tricked Sam into helping her ensure that it happened.

She encouraged Sam to use his powers, getting him addicted to demon blood just so she could free Lilith. She may think she's awesome, but considering she nearly ruined Sam's life and attempted to destroy the world via Lilith, we don't share her opinion.

4 Abaddon

Let's face it: there's not really anything to like about Abaddon. She's pure evil, and one of the more brutal and manipulative foes the Winchesters have faced in their time (which says something considering all the foes they've gone up against). Abaddon is cold, calculated, cunning and brutal. She has no regard for life and is terribly greedy. She wiped out the original Men of Letters. She fought for control over Hell. She caused the death of the love of Cain's (her mentor) life. She's ruined many lives and caused unforgivable damage and subsequent pain. We're glad Dean took her out with the First Blade.

3 Yellow Eyes

Yellow Eyes is the beginning of everything. He's the reason why John became a hunter and trained his sons to do the same. John spent most of his life tracking Yellow Eyes, intending to kill the demon and avenge the death of his wife, Mary.

We find out later Yellow Eyes had a deal with Mary, but it still doesn't excuse the awful and brutal manner in which he killed her. Sam and Dean were thrown into a lifetime of suffering because of it. The only good thing about Yellow Eyes is that without his actions in November of 1983, we wouldn't have a show or the accompanying fan base.

2 Lucifer

Lucifer is a character we all love to hate. Yet, like a train wreck, we're drawn to him to some degree. If only to find out what he's up to next. His greatest hits include torturing Sam, the awful treatment of his own son Jack, murdering Rowena, his blatant disregard for human life...and the list goes on. He's selfish, arrogant and has an immense need to be worshiped. When he doesn't get these things, he usually reverts to childlike behavior and then destroys anything that blocks his path, emphasizing his cruelty and immaturity. He caused so much pain and sorrow, and he's better off gone. Sam would definitely agree.

1 God (Chuck)

Usually, you don't picture God in the way that He is portrayed on SPN. With recent events on the show, it's fair to say that God may be the least favorite character at the moment. He's all about writing stories, and when his story doesn't play out the way he wants, he throws a tantrum over it. He seemed okay before. Helpful, even. However, it's clear that his previous behavior was some kind of ploy, leading up to one of the biggest betrayals in SPN history as he's turned his back on the world (even releasing souls to wreak havoc, monsters included, from Hell) and is hinted to have written a drastic ending for the Winchesters.
