Klaus and Rebekah had arguably the closest and most touching relationship out of all of the Original siblings in The Vampire Diaries spin-off show The Originals. Klaus is shown to be protective of his younger sister and Rebekah is incredibly loyal, though this hasn't prevented the two from clashing over the centuries.
Klaus may have loved Rebekah but that did not stop him from hurting her throughout the series. The Original hybrid was a complex character who had equally complicated relationships with his brothers and sisters. Here are the five worst things Klaus did to Rebekah and the five worst things she did to him.
10 Klaus: Daggering Her
Klaus Mikaelson had a toxic temper and a controlling attitude towards his siblings, particularly his younger sister Rebekah. He neutralized his sister with a silver dagger several times in The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, forcing her into slumber whenever they disagreed.
Klaus daggered Rebekah after she threatened to leave him to pursue a life with Stefan Salvatore and Marcel Gerard. He loved his little sister but also couldn't stand it when she refused to remain at his side.
9 Rebekah: Standing By Whilst Elijah Daggered Klaus
In the second season of The Originals, we learn that Klaus' brother Kol was working on creating a dagger that would neutralize his hybrid brother before Rebekah betrays the information to Klaus and Elijah. This comes back to haunt Klaus when Rebekah allows Elijah to dagger him, believing him to have killed Aiden and igniting a war with the werewolves.
Although Klaus was overdue for some comeuppance, he was trying to protect his daughter Hope from their evil aunt Dahlia and doing what he thought was best. Klaus looks betrayed by Rebekah and his siblings as Elijah daggers him, forcing him into temporary stasis.
8 Klaus: Killing Emil
Klaus has demonstrated a ruthless lack of regard for his siblings' lovers throughout the centuries. During the 1800s, Rebekah fell in love with the Governor's son Emil and begged Klaus to let her turn him into a vampire, only for her brother to throw him to his death.
This was Klaus at his most vicious and least human, displaying nothing but contempt and cruelty for his sister. Klaus was never supportive of any of his sister's relationships, indicating his unwillingness to share her.
7 Rebekah: Conspiring With Elena Against Klaus
Rebekah is first introduced in the third season of The Vampire Diaries. Despite initially clashing with Elena due to her past relationship with Stefan Salvatore, the Original vampire conspires with the doppelganger against her brother after learning that Klaus killed their mother Esther.
Elena daggers Rebekah anyway to prevent her from interfering with Mikael's attack against Klaus. However, like Elijah, Rebekah has demonstrated that she is willing to conspire with outsiders against her family.
6 Klaus: Controlling Her Life
Klaus loved his sister dearly but was also shown to be incredibly controlling of her life. He kills her lovers to keep her by his side and dictates her actions and behavior several times in the series.
Klaus eventually relents his control over Rebekah in the first season of The Originals. Realizing how much he has hurt his sister, he tells her to leave New Orleans and find a new life for herself where she can finally be happy.
5 Rebekah: Luring Mikael To New Orleans
The only person that Klaus ever truly feared was his stepfather Mikael. Mikael abused Klaus as a child, suspecting the truth that he was the product of an affair between Esther and a werewolf named Ansel, and hunted Klaus across the world as a vampire for centuries.
After Klaus prevents Rebekah and Marcel from being together, the two lovers lure Mikael to New Orleans in retaliation. Their plans go awry and the Originals are forced to flee from the city they built.
4 Klaus: Keeping Her And Marcel Apart
Klaus was dismissive of all of Rebekah's relationships but actively prevented her from being with Marcel, who he had raised as his ward. When learning of their romance, Klaus attacks Marcel and daggers Rebekah before turning his ward into a vampire.
When Rebekah awakens, Klaus informs her that Marcel chose to be a vampire over their relationship and he forces Marcel to reject her. Rebekah and Marcel eventually find happiness together in the series finale, with Klaus finally giving them his blessing.
3 Rebekah: Aligning With Marcel
During the first season of The Originals, Klaus and Marcel fight for the dominion of New Orleans and control of the city that the Originals built. Rebekah, mistrustful of her brother, travels to the city looking for Elijah and aligns with Marcel after the two lovers are reunited.
Rebekah and Marcel have plotted against Klaus before, almost killing them all after luring Mikael to the city during the 19th century. Rebekah eventually reconciles with Klaus and the rest of her family as the series progresses.
2 Klaus: Trying To Kill Her
After the witch, Genevieve, tells him the truth about Rebekah and Marcel luring Mikael to New Orleans during the 19th century, Klaus snaps and attempts to kill his sister in retaliation. Mikael is the only person who Klaus ever feared and Rebekah knew this, intensifying the blind rage he feels toward his sister.
Klaus tracks down Rebekah, who is suffering from hallucinations caused by werewolf bites. He almost kills his sister before Elijah intervenes, neutralizing his half-brother with Papa Tunde's blade.
1 Rebekah: Choosing Stefan And Marcel Over Her Brother
Klaus has treated Rebekah and the rest of his siblings awfully throughout the centuries, which drove a wedge between the family. Rebekah attempts to abandon Klaus for Marcel in the 1800s and, after meeting Stefan Salvatore in the 1920s, tells Klaus that she would rather leave him to be with her new lover than remain at her brother's side.
This prompts Klaus to dagger her as he is unwilling to part with his sister. As deserved as her semi-hatred of her half-brother was, this demonstrated Rebekah's willingness to abandon her family for temporary romances.
