This Thursday, December 12th will highlight The Game Awards, just in time for gamers to celebrate their favorite releases for 2019. Taking place in Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, the annual video game awards will highlight the games, esports competitors, and creators of this year.
This year has been jam packed with some awesome games. This years front runner is Death Stranding, racking up nine nominations since its release in November. Considering it's a fairly new game, it's impressive to have picked up so many nominations, including Game of the Year. Following close behind is Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Control with four nominations each. There will also be music groups Green Day and Chvrches performing during the awards ceremony. Chvrches was on the Death Stranding's soundtrack. It makes sense, considering Death Stranding is also nominated for Audio Design.
According to GameSpot, Geoff Keighley, show organizer, has mentioned that there will be ten reveals during the show. Surprisingly, Keighley also mentioned that none of the new announcements have been leaked as of yet. Unfortunately, this means the rumored Resident Evil 3 might not be mentioned during the Game Awards. But every year, the Game Awards has given us some announcements in the past gamers weren't ready for, such as The Outer Worlds or the Sekiro: Shaows Die Twice trailer. Some studios, however, have mentioned they plan on announcing some new projects during the ceremony. WolfEye Studios and Riot Forge have both said they plan to announce new games in the upcoming ceremony.
Gamers can only speculate what these new announcements will be, but there are a few highly anticipated games that absolutely deserve to be announced. Batman: Arkham Legacy, for example, would be a perfect candidate. There are already rumors floating that the game will have a new announcement or trailer at the ceremony. Hopefully, this rumor will become a reality. Another would be the revival of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series. There has been rumor for quite some time about the resurrection of the game. It would be fitting to announce it during the Game Awards. Additionally, there are high hopes for Elden Ring announcement. Since it's trailer preview at E3 2019, Elden Ring has pretty much disappeared as far as content and trailers go. It would be phenomenal for a new announcement and lengthy trailer to drop. This would reinvigorate fans and remind gamers why the wait for information has long been worth it.
