The Walking Dead is a zombie show that is based on a comic book series. It has been on since 2010, and over the years, viewers have watched these characters face walkers and many other threats. And due to how thrilling the story is, many fans have even gotten tattoos to show off their interest and passion!
Down below, 10 of these tats are shown. Some focus on specific characters. Some display the title. And all of them are amazing works of art. So if anyone out there is thinking about getting ink that is focused on TWD, take some inspiration from these images!
10 Still Not Bitten
There are many zombie movies and shows out there, and in this one, these undead beings are called walkers. Even though they move very slowly, there have been some intense situations that have led to them biting living human beings, which then turns someone else into a zombie.
This tattoo boasts that Reddit user NathanGPLC is “still not bitten”, and it is a reminder of how strong the surviving characters are; they have been through so much and they have lost so much, but they are still thriving and making it.
9 All These Characters
Back tats may feel like too much for some people, but this is an incredible work of art by Edgar Ivanov; there are fine black lines that show off characters from this show in vivid detail. Rick, Michonne, Daryl and Abraham are just a few of the faces that are seen here, and they are surrounded by items and images from the story. Plus, the deep, dark and dramatic feeling of this tattoo echo the show’s vibe, since it is a very dramatic one with very moving moments.
8 Rick Grimes
Speaking of Rick Grimes… He is the main character of TWD, and his story started it all. While he is currently not involved in what is happening on the show, he is still a fan favorite. That being said, many fans have and may want ink that honors him.
This one by Samma Charles is stunning and looks so realistic! His eyes, his wounds, his facial hair and his expression are all captured in a wonderful way, and this is such a cool way to celebrate such a heroic character.
7 Negan & Lucille
As mentioned, The Walking Dead is based on a comic book series, and this next example (that belongs to Reddit user The_magnif) is done in that style, with a more cartoon-looking artstyle. And while the word “cartoon” may be synonymous with words such as playful and fun, the moment shown in this ink is far from that.
Everyone knows about Negan and his bat, Lucille; this weapon is wrapped in barbed wire, and it was used to take out some truly important characters.
6 Michonne
Another main character is Michonne. When she first appeared, she was leading two walkers on leashes, and then she ended up with Rick Grimes himself. From her skills in fighting to her motherly ways, she is an icon, meaning her face has inspired at least a few tats out there.
And look at the detail in this one, which was shared by alaingarciatattoos… With just different shades of black ink, her hair, her serious look and her personality have come across and have been shown off in such a magnificent way.
5 Daryl’s Crossbow
We can’t forget about Daryl Dixon! He rides a motorcycle. He carries a crossbow. He wears a leather vest. He has shaggy hair that may or may not get washed regularly.
There are lots of viewers who would want to celebrate this man with some fresh ink, and a unique idea would be to get his weapon of choice printed permanently. This one by Skin Lab Tattoo & Body Piercing even has his last name across it, just so everyone is sure what this is referencing.
4 Carl & Pudding
One other character to keep in mind is Carl; he was Rick’s son, and he lost his life to a zombie. When he was around, though, he was wise and brave… yet he was also a kid. And one of his most popular kiddie moments involved him eating chocolate pudding straight out of a giant can!
For the right person, this could be just the right tattoo: It is colorful. It is vivid. It is a bit silly. And it is a beautiful way to honor this character. Nice work, Roger A. Price.
3 Do Not Enter
As mentioned, Rick Grimes started this show, when he woke up in a hospital. In that hospital, there was a door that said “Don't Open, Dead Inside”. In the comic books, a character named Brian put up a sign that says “All Dead Do Not Enter”, which led to this ink, shared by FreydisFrostros.
Either of these phrases would make for a cool tat, as seen by this big and bold one. Both of them embrace the danger and the thrills that are associated with this television series and this comic book series.
2 Fight & Fear
On a similar note, there is this artwork by Bridget Punsalang that says “fight the dead, fear the living”. In the middle, it has a cautionary symbol that is dripping with blood, and there are arrows sticking out of it. This also sums up this show well!
There are walkers to fight off, but there are also groups like The Governor’s and Negan’s and The Whisperers who have brought up challenges and threats, as well. Fans of The Walking Dead and/or Fear The Walking Dead may enjoy a tat like this one.
1 The Walking Dead
A final suggestion would be to consider getting the title of this series tattooed to a body part, as Mathew Pimental did. However, why opt for a boring and basic font? Why not spell it out with related images? Isn't that way better?
Guns, axes, swords, hammers and a baseball bat with spikes are all weapons that have been seen within this story. Zombie legs and arms and hands are all parts that have been seen a lot, as well. In the middle, there is even a hat with a star on it, since Rick was a sheriff's deputy and since that item was passed on to Carl and then to Judith.
