Arrowverse: 10 Couples That Would Have Made A Lot Of Sense (But Never Got Together)

It's a new year, and a new decade, which can only mean one thing: the last 2 episodes of the epic Arrowverse crossover Crisis On Infinite Earths are almost upon us! Over the last 8 years, the Arrowverse has brought some of DC's most beloved heroes to the small screen and has even introduced some new original characters that are just as popular.

It is fairly safe to assume, then, that these characters have gotten themselves caught up in many a relationship with all these different heroes flying around. However, for every successful coupling in the Arrowverse, there are those individuals who would have been great together but never got the chance.

10 Felicity Smoke And Barry Allen

Barry Allen first appeared during Arrow's second season, when he hadn't yet taken up the mantle of the Flash. Instead, he was a young CSI brought in to assist on a case in Starling City, which meant that he clashed with Oliver Queen's even moodier alter ego. During his stay, there was definitely a spark between Barry and Felicity.

The two were really cute together and even went on a date of sorts. When Felicity crossed over to The Flash, the two resumed their awkward connection, but it never went anywhere because they were both in love with different people. This was a real shame, as Barry and Felicity had a lot in common, and a great deal of chemistry.

9 Moira Queen And Malcolm Merlyn (Earth-1)

Who says only morally sound people can find love? Moira and Malcolm are two of the most fundamentally flawed individuals in Arrow and yet they are so compelling and watchable. Both characters have done incredibly awful things to achieve their end goals but are redeemed by their love for their family.

In Season 1 of Arrow, Malcolm was very much in charge of their grand plan to level the Glades, but he wasn't pulling Moira's strings, at least not initially. Moira was quite happy to go along with their plan for the sake of her children and that's why these two should have been a couple. They wouldn't have made each other better people but it would have been extremely entertaining to watch.

8 Mick Rory And Charlie

Mick and Charlie are both hardened, yet reformed (sort of) criminals who now travel on board the Waverider and save time from various anachronisms and monsters from Hell itself. It sounds mad because it is. Nevertheless, Mick and Charlie would be perfect for each other.

Mick used to be Snart's partner in crime until the latter died, leaving Mick unsure of his place on the Waverider. Cue Charlie's introduction in Season 4 of Legends Of Tomorrow. Charlie is a shapeshifter who got stuck in the form of Amaya. She joined the Legends and began a fun, and often boozy, friendship with Mick. However, there is ample opportunity for these two to become more than friends.

7 Leonard Snart And Sara Lance

Snart and Sara were adorable together. Snart had already set off on his path to redemption, even before becoming a regular cast member on Legends, thanks to some brilliant character development over on The Flash. Likewise with Sara, who had become a hero on Arrow, only to die and then be resurrected, of which there were complications.

It's safe to say that these two would-be superheroes had complicated backstories. Maybe that's why they started to hit it off. Sara and Snart would flirt regularly with each other, and even shared a kiss right before Snart's sacrifice. However, we would have loved to have seen a proper relationship develop between this couple.

6 Lena Luthor And Clarke Kent

Perhaps a controversial choice, but we think Lena and Clarke could become a solid couple if they were given the chance. The two haven't interacted with each other within the Arrowverse so it would be incredibly intriguing to watch how their first meeting would play out. Lena is a Luthor, and Lex's sister, but she's not evil.

However, we all know Superman's history with Lex Luthor and so would he be able to overcome his distrust of Lena's family name? It would have made for a unique and compelling relationship, not to mention both characters complement the other; Lena could quell Superman's naivety and Clark could do the same with Lena's cynicism.

5 Alex Danvers And Sara Lance

Alex's relationship with Maggie was groundbreaking for many people, as it showed Alex coming to terms with her sexuality and saw her build enough confidence to come out to her adoptive sister, Kara, aka Supergirl. Malex didn't get off to a great start but they eventually got a good thing going until they split due to their opposing views on children.

After their split, Alex spent the rest of the season moping around and being miserable, which wasn't much fun for anyone. Happily though, during Crisis On Earth-X, Alex and Sara hooked up the night before the wedding, and we would have loved to have seen their one-night stand develop into something more substantial.

4 Killer Frost And Ralph Dibny

Caitlin is a fan-favorite character over on The Flash and, like Barry and Cisco, she made her first appearance in an episode of Arrow, before the first season of The Flash had even aired. Ralph was a bit of a latecomer to the Arrowverse, having only been introduced in The Flash's fourth season.

The two soon struck up a close friendship though, which carried on through subsequent seasons. Ralph was even able to have fairly civilized conversations with Cait's decidedly more chilly alter ego, Killer Frost. Frost and Ralph hit it off, and it has been clear from Season 6 just how much she cares about Ralph. These two would make a cute and adorkable pairing.

3 Dinah Drake And Rene Ramirez

It's actually amazing how far Dinah and Rene have come since their first appearance in Arrow. Both characters made their debut in Season 5, but neither were particularly keen on following Oliver's lead unquestioningly when they first joined up. Rene was a hotheaded vigilante and Dinah harbored a dangerous vendetta against the man who had killed her partner.

Given how similar these two actually are, it's surprising that they haven't hooked up already. Throughout several seasons of Arrow, Dinah and Rene have come to depend on each other more and more, developing and sweet and unspoken friendship which deserves to become something more.

2 Kara Danvers And Barry Allen

When Kara and Barry first met late on in Season 1 of Supergirl, they connected almost immediately. The fact that they were from two different earths meant nothing to them, and that's the kind of thing you want from a relationship; no matter how big the obstacle, you'll always find a way to be with each other.

Barry and Kara are just friends but they are completely adorable together. The musical crossover between The Flash and Supergirl was a surprisingly decent episode and it was mainly due to the chemistry shared between the two leads. If Barry wasn't married to Iris, he and Kara would definitely become a fan-favorite couple.

1 Lena Luthor And Leonard Snart

Snart's casual flirtation with Sara Lance on Legends Of Tomorrow was cute and all, but it was nothing compared to what would have been if Snart and Lena had met and become an item. Snart is one of our favorite characters and Lena is one of the most complex and compelling individuals in the Arrowverse.

If one put these two together, all we'd have to do is to sit back and watch the sparks fly. Their wit and intelligence would make for a very hot relationship, and neither partner would back down easily. They both have slightly warped ideas about right and wrong, but about opposite extremes, so they could help each other as their relationship progressed.
