Hunters Full Trailer Confirms February Release Date On Amazon

The official trailer for Jordan Peele's new Amazon Prime TV series Hunters has revealed the show's release date as February 21st, 2020. Although originally known for his comedic talents showcased in the sketch comedy series Key and Peele, Jordan Peele has since moved on to direct award-winning suspense films like Us and Get Out.

Hunters, which unveiled its first sneak peek teaser trailer back in November, is a story about a group of Nazi hunters living in New York City in the late 1970's. Said to be inspired by true events, Hunters will follow this group of vigilantes as they set out on a mission to eradicate any and all of the escaped Nazis who are still living in the United States. The new Amazon Prime show will star Al Pacino, Logan Lerman, Kate Mulvany, and How I Met Your Mother's Josh Radnor, among others.

Posted earlier today to YouTube, the Hunters official trailer offers viewers their longest look yet at the show, as well as announcing its February 21st release date. At a funeral for his grandfather, Jonah (Logan Lerman) is approached by Meyer Offerman (Al Pacino) and, after being told the two older men once spent time in Nazi concentration camps together, instructed that sometimes the best revenge is simply revenge itself. He then introduces Jonah to his crew, the titular Nazi Hunters. Check out the full clip below:

As the official Hunters trailer goes on, it becomes clear Al Pacino's team isn't the only one on the trail of underground Nazis. A government agency also seems to be following both the vigilantes and the Nazis themselves, trying to stop both of them from working outside the law. Unlike the police, Pacino's team is clearly not averse to violence, and this new Hunters trailer features a number of stabbings, beatings, and shootings, all set to 1977's Psycho Killer by The Talking Heads.

The show's tone seems somewhat comedic in nature, despite the serious subject material, and almost feels like a 1970's version of Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds, a movie which was also about a rag-tag team of Nazi killers. While excessive violence can at times be something of a controversial and unnecessary thing to focus a television show around, it's hard to imagine any group of people more deserving of such actions than Nazis, especially those who escaped persecution after the fall of the Third Reich. If the show can maintain the attitudes and intensity the above trailer delivers, then Hunters may be the newest Jordan Peele production to get incredibly popular... until the next one, that is.
