Sex And The City: Myers-Briggs® Types Of The Main Characters

There are many reasons as to why we still tune into Sex and the City years after it has left the air. One of the reasons we continue to watch the series over and over again is due to the amazing sense of fashion on the show. Another reason we keep watching is because we love to witness all the crazy date-night disasters that the ladies go through, and somehow after all these years we still find ourselves relating to their experiences. Yet perhaps the number one reason we still watch SATC is because of the captivating characters the series has blessed us with. What are the Myers Briggs Personality Types of all the main characters on Sex and the City? Keep reading to find out!

10 CHARLOTTE - ISFJ

Charlotte York is the poster child for all the "SFJ"s out there, albeit a bit of a stereotypical one at that. Like most ISFJ personalities, they are extremely classy individuals who care about presenting themselves in the most valuable and cherished light. This is why Charlotte is always incredibly clean and well-groomed. It is also perhaps why she has the best sense of style on the entire show, which is saying a lot. (Sorry Carrie!).

Being an ISFJ, she is in favor of traditional values which can sometimes clash with the other ladies of the group, especially Samantha. Yet despite her desire for tradition and a classic lifestyle that the others might find a bit archaic and Stepford-like, Charlotte, like most ISFJs, is open-minded enough to respect the opposing lifestyles that her other friends have.

9 MIRANDA - INTJ

Miranda is very much an INTJ personality type, otherwise known as "the mastermind". It can often feel as though the INTJ is on top of the world due to their strong work ethic and need for perfectionism, which is most certainly the case for Miranda. Seriously. How could anyone else manage to be at the top of their job at a law firm while at the same time maintaining an active social life, all while juggling a newborn child on their arm?

Only an INTJ could do all this so effortlessly. Sometimes this personality type can come across as cold and emotionless, yet this is simply because they tend to lead with logic rather than their feelings. Yet once you do get them to open up as Steve eventually does, they can make fantastic lovers.

8 CARRIE - ENFJ

Carrie Bradshaw is the kind of person who wears her heart on her sleeve, which is very typical of the ENFJ personality type. They tend to be very expressive of their emotions, and to this personality type, finding love is one of the most essential parts of their identities. They tend to feel lost and incomplete without someone special in their lives, and this is most certainly how Carrie tends to feel. This is especially true when it comes to Mr. Big.

Although she loves Aiden, she doesn't get the same passion with him as she does with Big, and passion is an essential driving force of the ENFJ personality type. If there is no passion when it comes to anything in their lives, then there is no point! ENFJs also make excellent friends which is made clear on the show, and they will do pretty much anything to make sure the people they care most about are happy and fulfilled.

7 SAMANTHA - ESTP

Samantha is one hell of a woman who most certainly stands out from the crowd with her big personality. New York City is filled with interesting personas, so the fact that Sam is able to stand out in the big apple says a lot about how fascinating she really is.

Being an ESTP personality type, she is obsessed with getting the most out of life while she's still on this earth. Sometimes, this can cause her to do things that others might deem as inappropriate. ESTPs are adventurous and driven individuals who refuse to lead a conventional or mundane lifestyle. They are often outspoken and they lead by the truth rather than sugar-coating everything around them.

6 MR.BIG - ISTP

Mr. Big is a man of great mystery. He is constantly aloof and able to keep his cool, even during the most dramatic events. His masculine mystique reminds us a lot of the ISTP personality type, akin to that of James Bond. This persona is incredibly intriguing to others because they are constantly on the move and you never really know just what they're thinking. This is why Carrie is so drawn to him, because she loves the idea of trying to figure him out even though she never fully can. This is what keeps her coming back for more.

5 TREY MACDOUGAL - ISTJ

Trey Macdougal is a person who means well, yet he and Charlotte just couldn't seem to make it work as much as they tried. He is very much an ISTJ because this personality type places an incredible amount of value on rules and tradition. Trey will do absolutely anything to make his mother, Bunny, proud and content.

Even if this means destroying his relationship with Charlotte in the end, he is the kind of person who always puts his family values first and foremost. Although Charlotte and Trey end up getting divorced, they manage to stay on civil terms and there is still love there between the two.

4 AIDAN - ISFP

Aidan is a kind-hearted person who is a country boy at heart. He will do anything to make Carrie happy, yet sometimes this doesn't always end up working out according to plan. ISFP personality types are known for being gentle and loyal to their partners as well as their friends and family. They are sometimes people pleasers and often tend to be happy go lucky by nature which is certainly how we would describe Aidan. Although he made for a great boyfriend, he was a bit too simple-minded and easygoing for Carrie who needed that spark of passion that only Big could supply her with.

3 HARRY - ENFP

Harry Goldenblatt walked into the world of Sex and the City like a ray of much-needed sunshine. We were so used to most of the male lovers on the series being unavailable or too pushy in some way shape or form, and then Harry came around to prove that there are still great men out there who aren't taken. His warm and silly personality seems a lot like that of an ENFP, and he helps bring Charlotte out of her shell while Charlotte helps him be more organized and traditional.

2 STEVE - ESFP

Steve is a loving and outgoing person on Sex and the City who is constantly lifting people's spirits with his happy go lucky personality. He wants to lead a simple life career-wise, yet his social life is very important to him and is a primary part of his identity. He cares a great deal about his friends and family and he will pretty much do anything to make sure those around him are satisfied. The fact that he is able to loosen up Miranda of all people proves how positive and warm he is. Sounds like an ESFP if you ask us!

1 SMITH - ISFP

As fans of Sex and the City, we never thought in a million years that Samantha Jones of all people would find herself in a monogamous relationship, but alas, Smith came along and convinced Sam to give her heart to him. He is a bit on the quiet/artsy side, and he is incredibly loyal to Sam. His gentle demeanor along with his artistic pursuits make him seem like an ISFP to us.
