Chris Pratt Starts Production Company With Political & Religious Themes

Chris Pratt announced the launch of his new production company, Indivisible Productions, to his social media followers, noting that the company's name comes from a (controversial) line in the US Pledge of Allegiance. Pratt, known for roles in blockbusters like Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World, has always been vocal about his love of Christianity. He once discussed partaking in a 21-day fast referenced in the biblical Book of Daniel on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and found himself under fire from actress Ellen Page for belonging to an "infamously" anti-LGBTQ church.

The attack from Page provoked Pratt to defend Hillsong Church, where he is a member, by posting a statement to social media. "My faith is important to me but no church defines me or my life, and I am not a spokesman for any church or group of people," the actor said at the time. "My values define who I am. We need less hate in this world, not more. I am a man who believes that everyone is entitled to love who they want free from the judgement of their fellow man.

Pratt continues to spread his message of peace with the launch of Indivisible Productions. On Instagram, the actor announced the launch of his brand new production company with a video tour of his office, and a message to his fans detailing his hopes for the company's future. "I’ve started a company, Indivisible Productions," the actor writes. The genesis of the name comes from a line in the US Pledge of Allegiance, as Pratt points out, writing, "One nation, Under God, Indivisible." The Star-Lord actor then explains that Indivisible Productions will create content focused on "themes which will help to bridge the growing divide in our country and world." He closes out his statement saying he hopes to "make the world a better place," and jokingly adds, "No biggie, you’re welcome, but it’s whatever."

Pratt offered no further information about the company, and it isn't clear if the new entity is involved with any specific productions. The language of the post, specifically Pratt's refrain of "one nation, under God," certainly would seem to indicate the company could tackle faith-based projects. Or, at the very least, they'll be productions that extol a similar sentiment.

Interestingly, Pratt says he's trying to heal the world and "bridge the growing divide" in America but fails to realize he's evoking one of the most controversial aspects of the Pledge of Allegiance. The inclusion of the line "one nation, under God" brings to mind endless debates on the appropriateness of "God" being included in a pledge to a country that purports the separation of church and state. Perhaps, instead of using weighted language that recalls an ongoing political argument, Chris Pratt's new company could focus on producing well-made movies with a positive message, that also have an underlying current of faith.
