Netflix: 5 Upcoming Shows We Can't Wait For (& 5 That Have Us Nervous)

It's no secret that Netflix has been a dominant streaming service, and part of the reason is that they continue to produce a plethora of original content. This includes movies and television shows, and there are lots of Netflix Originals to go around for people of any taste.

With 2020 just starting fresh, there are many series to come to this popular streaming service in the near future. While most television lovers will be anticipating their favorites returning, not every new Netflix show can be as good as the rest. Here are some shows that we seriously can't wait for, and others that have us incredibly nervous for their release.

10 Nervous: Space Force

Greg Daniels and Steve Carell have partnered up to create a new workplace comedy. That's right, all Parks and Recreation and The Office fans should pay attention.

This upcoming show will follow a group of officials who are tasked with creating another branch of government, for the military of outer-space: the Space Force. It will probably be hilarious, but many are nervous because we hope it does this incredibly funny and genius idea justice. Some comedies aren't exactly comedies but with these names behind Space Force expectations are high, so we'll wait with some slight nerves before we undoubtedly tune in.

9 Excited: I Am Not Okay With This

A teen series based on the graphic novel, this anticipated show is created by the same masterminds behind The End of the F-ing World, including Jonathan Entwistle.

This show will follow Sydney, a teenage girl, who is navigating high school, sexuality, and some mysterious superpowers. The talented teen cast should bring viewers humor and an incredible sense of adventure, and Netflix lovers are definitely excited. I Am Not Okay With This will be coming to Netflix at the end of February.

8 Nervous: Warrior Nun

This Manga-style comic is being brought to life by Netflix. Created by Simon Barry, this series will tell the story of a young woman who wakes up in a morgue. However, she also has incredible powers. Fans of the comics know this will be an incredible fantasy tale between good and evil.

However, Netflix isn't exactly known for this style of show, and it's always hit and miss when Manga comics are brought to the screen. So, Warrior Nun fans are awaiting this character's series with some nerves.

7 Excited: Queen Sono

Queen Sono is a South African spy series that is making history. As the first Netflix series created in South Africa, fans are more than excited about this new show. The drama will follow a secret agent who fights crime, but of course, she's also dealing with her personal life and all its crises.

This series sounds pretty basic, but it's expected to be full of fresh and intriguing ideas. Premiering at the end of February, 2020, viewers are definitely excited about a new crime drama action series.

6 Nervous: Haunting Of Bly Manor

From the creators of The Haunting of Hill House, this show targets a new family, and will be equally terrifying. Still in development, there isn't a whole lot of information floating around about this thriller series so it's difficult to judge.

However, fans are nervous because they know just how horrifying the first series was. While lovers of this style of Netflix series are already shaking in their boots, it is safe to say that they're likely also excited, even if it's way, way deep down.

5 Excited: Cursed

Starring Katherine Langford, this fantasy series is a reinvention of King Arthur's search for Merlin's sword. Created by Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler, this series will follow a teenage sorceress and a young Arthur on their journey.

Fans of Netflix's 13 Reasons Why, are probably already a fan of Langford and of course, this series will fill all of our fantasy needs. This classic tale definitely has everyone excited for it to premiere.

4 Nervous: Alice In Borderlands

This new anime series is based on a video game and follows the character of Ryohei Alice. A young man who is listless and jobless, he finds a strange light and is suddenly standing in an empty Tokyo with his best friends.

This series will likely be fresh and exciting, but again, Netflix isn't well known for this type of series. Still, game fans are on the edge of their seats hoping this anime series will be everything they hoped it would be.

3 Excited: Hollywood

Ryan Murphy and Darren Criss have produced a limited series about the Golden Age of Hollywood, specifically that of young people in the film and sex industry.

Starring Patti LuPone, Jake Picking, and Jeremy Pope, this series will give movie and television lovers the inside look into Hollywood they've always wanted. These two creators are also geniuses, so fans are more than excited to dive into youth's experience in Hollywood's Golden Age.

2 Nervous: Gentefied

This comedy series will follow a group of Mexican-American cousins, living in LA, who try to keep their grandfather's taco shop running in the midst of gentrification in the neighborhood.

This series will be full of family drama, culture, and business, while also tackling the issues of gentrification and marginalization. This comedy-drama will likely sweep everyone off their feet, but the series is tackling some pretty intense themes. This has viewers slightly nervous, but we'll tune in to see how it plays out.

1 Excited: Ratched

This series also comes from the mind of Ryan Murphy. Sarah Paulson will take on the role of the iconic nurse from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, making for a wicked and intriguing prequel series.

For those not familiar with the source material, this series will follow a young nurse at a mental institution, who becomes bitter about her work, and turns into the worst monster towards her patients. For film lovers, it's hard not to be excited about this prequel and Sarah Paulson as its star. Premiering in September 2020, Netflix fans will definitely be tuning in.
