Spider-Man, aka Peter Parker (Tom Holland), is a good kid. Usually. Like every teenager, Peter has his moments of rebellion, though it's usually for the right reasons. Peter is not only learning to grow up but learning to use his powers for good and the right reasons. He had a great mentor and father figure in Tony Stark, but he was prone to make mistakes, as we all tend to do. It's just part of the learning curve. 10 Called Happy Constantly
In Homecoming, Peter frequently calls Happy Hogan, Tony's best friend and head of security, with updates. Updates on anything from crime to churros. Peter's eagerly waiting for his next mission with the Avengers, and puts his life on hold, afraid he'll miss out on opportunities should he just go to high school and hang with his friends. Happy rarely ever got back to Peter, but it never deterred Peter's updates. Turns out they were a good thing, as Peter saved Happy's job when he helped prevent the theft of weapons while Happy was supposed to be supervising the move from the Avengers Tower to the new headquarters.
9 Hugs Tony
Peter mistakes Tony leaning over to get the car door for him for an attempt at a hug, much to his embarrassment. Tony claims it's because they're not "there" yet, but it's not long afterward that they've reached a point where hugging is acceptable for both parties. They develop a great mentor-mentee relationship that resembles more of a father-son relationship than anything else, which is one of the things we love most about Peter and Tony.
8 Starts Up Conversations In The Middle Of Battles
Peter's friendly and open. That's just who he is. He doesn't even realize he's doing it most of the time, though the other characters tend to find this quirk annoying from time to time. However, fans appreciate the different vibe that Peter brings to the battlefield. Instead of being bloodthirsty or in some kind of "kill mode," he takes the time to chat, friends or foe. It suits his character, and it somehow suits the moment, strange as that may sound. Peter first started doing this minutes after his introduction in Captain America: Civil War, making for a lasting impression.
7 Did Impressions Of Thor
Turns out Karen is storing and recording more than Peter initially realized, otherwise he wouldn't have worn his mask while conducting an impression of Thor. It's honestly adorable and incredibly hilarious the way Peter mimics the God of Thunder, and it'd probably earn a few laughs from the man himself. Still, all of us do impressions in the mirror from time to time that we'd probably prefer left unseen, let alone recorded. Poor Peter.
6 Used Movie References As Battle Strategy
Peter's unconventional and it's one of the things we love about him. He brings forth a new version of Spider-Man, one that has an affinity for pop culture references. The first one he ever dropped had to do with Star Wars when he mentions a method from the film to utilize in taking down the giant Ant-Man in Civil War. He makes another reference, this time to Alien, in Infinity War. Peter has seen a lot of movies, so you never know where his movie trivia may come in handy in a battle.
5 Unlocked Advanced Settings On His Suit
Finding out Tony had placed some limits on his suit, Peter rebelliously hacks into the system, unlocking its full capabilities in Homecoming, with his best friend Ned's help. At this point, Peter was convinced he could investigate solo, and had to learn the hard way that he wasn't ready to tackle such a case. Limits on the suit were placed there for a reason. Peter resents being treated like a kid, but that's what he is. Prematurely taking off the training wheels doesn't work in his favor, but he does eventually learn from his lesson.
4 Snuck Onto A Spaceship
Peter snuck out plenty of times to be the "friendly neighborhood Spider-Man," but sneaking off was more significant in this instance as he stowed away on a spaceship leaving Earth. He gets stuck in space with Stark and Dr. Strange and makes an Alien reference or two while he's at it. He's even bold enough to blame Tony for his hitching a ride upon the spaceship but quickly takes it back upon seeing the look on his mentor's face. This instance is the rebellious teenager in Peter coming to light, and we don't often see it, so it was an interesting and hilarious moment.
3 Stole Captain America's Shield
Granted, he was following Tony Stark's orders, but this was a hell of a way to make an entrance. It was a meaningful introduction, having Spider-Man swing in and take Cap's shield from right under his nose. It was pretty badass. It showed that Spider-Man had potential and would be yet another dynamic addition to the MCU lineup. Peter follows up this act with a conversation, including the confession that he's a Captain America fan. Only Peter Parker would steal Cap's shield and initiate a friendly conversation without taunts.
2 Disobeyed Tony
In Homecoming, Tony orders Peter to back off the case of the stolen weapons after saving him from a near-drowning experience. Peter resents this and sets out to prove Stark wrong, with potentially deadly results in the form of a ferry splitting in half. Peter was in way over his head and it took a near-disaster for him to realize that and accept that maybe Tony had a point. Growing up is hard to do, but Peter's case was extreme.
1 Turned Down The Chance To Be An Avenger
By the end of Homecoming, Peter has long learned his lesson. His biggest sign of maturity is when he rejects Tony's offer to be a full-time Avenger. Peter realizes he's happy being the "friendly neighborhood Spider-Man" for now, and that he's not done growing up just yet. It's bold and brave to say no to Tony Stark, but Peter does so politely and with the utmost respect. He doesn't second-guess himself or even come to regret the decision, so we have to admire his confidence in the choice.
