Here's every cameo featured in the Funny Or Die sequel short Field Of Dreams 2: Lockout. Kevin Costner had a pretty incredible run of critically and commercially successful movies in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He became a film star thanks to 1987's The Untouchables and followed up with greats like Revenge, No Way Out, Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves and The Bodyguard. His western epic Dances With Wolves - which he also directed - was predicted to be a big flop but went on to be a huge success that also swept the Academy Awards.
One of his most enduring movies from this era is 1989's Field Of Dreams. The somewhat odd premise sees an Iowa farmer building a football field after hearing a whispery voice telling him to do so. The spirits of the 1919 Chicago White Sox - including Shoeless Joe Jackson (Ray Liotta, Goodfellas) - then turn up, setting Costner's character off on a feelgood adventure. The movie is a sweet, nostalgic drama that made good use of Costner's sincerity as a performer.
Fields Of Dreams isn't the kind of film that lends itself naturally to a follow-up and its doubtful one will happen, given Kevin Costner's aversion to sequels. It kind of received one in the form of the Funny or Die short Field Of Dreams 2: Lockout. This skit stars Taylor Lautner (Twilight) as an Iowa farmer who hears a voice telling him to build a football field on his farm, which attracts a host of famous NFL players and a few famous actors too. Here's a list of every cameo in the short.
NFL Players
- Ray Lewis
- Tony Gonzalez
- Dwight Freeney
- DeSean Jackson
- Shawne Merriman
- Antonio Cormartie
- Steve Smith
- Shaun Phillips
- Kirk Morrison
Actors
- Dennis Haysbert
- Ray Liotta
- Kevin Costner
Marielle Jaffe also plays the wife of Lautner's farmer character in Field Of Dreams 2: Lockout. The premise behind the short goes back to the real-life NFL Lockout that lasted for four months in 2011, and ended shortly after the video itself debuted. Players such as Ray Lewis, Tony Gonzalez and Shawn Merriman, among many others, appear as themselves. Dennis Haysbert (24) stands in for James Earl Jones as Terrence Mann from the original Field Of Dreams, while Ray Liotta also briefly appears as NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
And naturally, it wouldn't be Field Of Dreams without Kevin Costner, who appears at the end as the father of Lautner's character and also gets to deliver the best gag. Field Of Dreams 2: Lockout is a charming sketch, but with the 2011 NFL Lockout now long over, the central premise lacks bite now.
