While the relationship between Tonks and Lupin isn't explored too heavily within the movies, it is showcased, and it is certainly a massively featured part of the book series. The couple is one that often divides fans, with some people loving them together, and others believing they are both better suited to other people.
Some fans feel that Lupin and Tonks are better off simply being friends, while others are firm of the belief that they are the best couple in the entire wizarding world. Whether you believe they shouldn't be together or you think they're perfect, within this list we are going to suspend disbelief that they didn't exist as a couple and look at 10 other people Tonks would have been better suited to being in a relationship with instead.
10 Percy Weasley
Percy Weasley isn't someone we see too much of within Harry Potter, therefore it's tough to really know what he is like as a person. However, if he is anything like the rest of the Weasley clan, then there is no doubt that he would get along just fine with Tonks.
He might have been a little bit too good for Tonks, who is quite an adventurous character, but they do say opposites attract. A relationship between them would have given Percy a reason to be around in the movies more, which might have made him a more intriguing character.
9 Cedric Diggory
Obviously, for this to work Cedric Diggory would have had to not die in the Goblet of Fire, but since we are suspending disbelief he deserves an entry. Had Cedric stayed alive, there's a good chance he would have joined the Order of the Phoenix, simply due to his family connections and how talented he was as a wizard.
Cedric was always popular within Hogwarts, so it's easy to see why he might have caught Tonks' attention. Due to him not only being smart and handsome, but Cedric did also have a very kind heart which would likely have won over Tonks.
8 Sirius Black
Obviously, this relationship would have had to exist in a world where Tonks was never romantic with Sirius Black's best friend, Remus Lupin. But because Tonks dated Lupin it makes sense that she might have been attracted to Black as well.
Sirius and Lupin have very similar personalities, therefore it is quite easy to see how they would have worked out as a couple. On top of that, it could have provided a motherly figure to Harry during the films, which would have been a unique dynamic.
7 Nobody
Not every character in the Harry Potter world needs to be in a relationship, and Tonks could certainly have been someone who would have been fine all by herself. She has a big enough personality and has impressive enough abilities that she didn't need anyone by her side.
Tonks on her own would have been just as fun within the series without her relationship to Lupin, especially if you're just looking at it from a movie perspective. Tonks is witty and has plenty to offer with her humor, not to mention her incredible skills with a wand.
6 Harry Potter
Of course, as the most famous wizard in the world, Harry Potter is someone who could easily be suited to just about anyone, and most of the women in the wizarding world are interested in him. While Harry ends up with Ginny Weasley, there's certainly a case that could be made for a relationship with Tonks.
Whenever they're shown together it is clear that Tonks and Harry get along very well. She always showcases a fun side to her personality when Harry is about, and perhaps that is in a bid to impress the magical wizard, which is why they'd be well suited.
5 Ron Weasley
Much like Harry Potter, whenever Ron Weasley gets to interact with Tonks we see her childish, playful side, which shows she is comfortable and happy around him. That's always a good thing in a relationship and because Ron likes a laugh and a joke, they would certainly be well suited.
While Tonks might be a little bit older than Ron, much like Harry, it certainly wouldn't have been crazy to put them together if they had waited until the later movies. It would certainly have provided an interesting dynamic, although Ron is certainly better suited to Hermione.
4 Fred/George Weasley
If Ron Weasley is a little too young for Tonks, then the franchise could have always looked to the older identical twins, Fred and George Weasley. Much like Ron, they're always up for a laugh and a joke and are arguably even more mischievous than Ron is.
Neither of them is really given a romantic focus, so it would have been good to see that played out within the story, and Tonks could have been a great character to go down that route with.
3 Fleur Delacour
Lesbian relationships aren't explored in the wizarding world within the films, but that doesn't mean that they couldn't exist. Tonks and Fleur Delacour are two people who know each other well and therefore it is easy to imagine them together.
Both of them are quite adventurous, and therefore it is easy to imagine them being together, especially since they're two of the most powerful witches within the wizarding world. It could have been an interesting angle for the series to take, and certainly would have made the characters appealing to the LGBTQ audience.
2 Bill Weasley
Bill is a character that we don't see tons of throughout the Harry Potter movies, but we know he has a major interest in dragons and wild beasts, which is something Tonks also has to be able to deal with considering Lupin turns into a Werewolf.
The two of them clearly know each other well when the Order of the Phoenix is shown together, they are always around. Of course, Bill enjoys a relationship with Fleur Delacour, in the films, but if things were slightly different, perhaps this could have worked out.
1 Mad-Eye Moody
While there might be a slight age gap here, a relationship between Mad-Eye Moody and Tonks could certainly make sense. Both are Order of the Phoenix members and therefore spend a lot of time together, and both characters are well-known for having quite drastic mood swings.
While it isn't something we see much of in Tonks within the films, in the books she certainly does have a grumpy side and is well-known to display a temper. Because of that, they really would be great together, being slightly grumpy and just enjoying each other's wacky personalities.
