Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto 6 should definitely include Lazlow, but the game needs to put him back on the radio where he belongs. Lazlow has been one of the only characters to continually return in multiple Grand Theft Auto entries, but despite his memorable in-person appearance in Grand Theft Auto V most players probably remember him the best as the host of the radio station Chatterbox FM in Grand Theft Auto III.
Lazlow is the nickname and in-game moniker for Jeffrey Crawford Jones, a writer who first began working with Rockstar during the development of Grand Theft Auto III and would later go one to have a much more prominent position within the franchise. In every subsequent Grand Theft Auto title Lazlow has appeared in some fashion, usually over the radio but also occasionally as in in-game character, culminating in his ultimately embarrassing appearance in 2013's Grand Theft Auto V.
Lazlow's status as a perverted weirdo in the Grand Theft Auto universe is well-known, with information about the talk show-turned-television hosts' interesting and somewhat tragic life having been doled out to players over the years in the form of offhand comments and barely-repressed anecdotes. When given and taken in small increments these quirks can be funny and almost endearing, but when displayed in full force like they were in Grand Theft Auto V Lazlow just comes off as gross, sad, and despicable. The series should put this character back into an audio booth where he belongs, and in Grand Theft Auto 6 that should be easy because...
Podcasts weren't nearly as popular when Grand Theft Auto V was being developed as they are now, but that's not the only way Lazlow could return to Grand Theft Auto 6's story. The series, for all of it's exploration of criminal organizations, has never truly shown off the world of pirate radio, where someone sets up their own station only accessible by local receivers, usually in their home. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City featured a pirate radio station called Wildstyle Pirate Radio and was hosted by a DJ named Mr. Magic, unfortunately this did not really fully explore the possibilities a pirate radio station could offer in gameplay and instead was treated like any other radio station.
In Grand Theft Auto 6, Lazlow could be hiding out from Michael and Trevor following their threats in Grand Theft Auto V, and therefore he may be terrified and in fear of his safety. Because seeing a nervous, sniveling version of Lazlow in person might not be anything players of Grand Theft Auto 6 want to do, it would instead be much better if Rockstar made it so Lazlow was heard, but never seen. He could be hiding in a shed, or a storage unit, holed up with a radio, a rapidly-dwindling food supply, and the only possessions he took with him during his escape from San Andreas: a big collection of his favorite music. This could be made even more entertaining if players could only hear Lazlow's station in a certain radius, thanks to his weak broadcasting abilities and lack of technical prowess.
Of course, this is only a possibility if Grand Theft Auto 6's setting takes place after GTAV's chronologically. If some of the widely-circulated theories and rumors about Grand Theft Auto 6 are true, and Rockstar does indeed plan on taking its crime series back to a previous era like the 1960's or the 1970's, it may still be possible to include Lazlow in a similar way, but they would have to change the reasons for him hiding out. Given the amount of abuse players know he suffered in his youth, this would be easy to come by, but either way Grand Theft Auto 6 needs to put Lazlow back on the radio.
