Houseparty, the app that's proved hugely popular during the coronavirus outbreak is hosting an exclusive live-streaming festival. This is one of a few examples of how apps and services have been used during the pandemic to provide an outlet for those subjected to a stay-at-home order. It is also a prime opportunity for Houseparty to prove how big of a party it can host and possibly even pave the way for other events in the future.
Although Houseparty launched in 2016, the video chat app has become exponentially more popular during the current pandemic, allowing anyone isolated to stay in touch with one another. It separates itself with its interactive abilities, as it includes games and quizzes built directly into the interface, giving new meaning to party nights. Now, with In The House, Houseparty will prove its potential for live-streaming festivals.
In The House, runs from May 15th through May 17th and is set to include performances by more than 40 artists. The festival begins Friday at 5:00 p.m. (EDT) with actress Zooey Deschanel and wraps up on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. with singer/songwriter Doja Cat. According to Houseparty, the In The House event will span five different categories, broken down as Music, Workout, Cooking, Dance and My Life. In the brief, but immersive shows, artists will provide a glimpse of what they've been living through, sharing insight into their lives, and how they've been spending their time during quarantine.
The May 15th lineup might be the shortest of the three days, but that doesn't mean it lacks the star-power. The lineup includes artists, such as comedian Keegan-Michael Key performing a new comedy skit at 5:30 p.m., and popstar Tinashe giving a dancing lesson at 6:00 p.m. One of the most-anticipated sets will come from Katy Perry who is set to take to the virtual stage at 7:30 p.m. The singer/songwriter and American Idol judge will be debuting the newest single, Daises, and will also be giving a how-to lesson on playing the song.
Beginning at 8:00 a.m., Saturday's live performances will continue on until 8:00 p.m., with encore performances going well into the night. The day is headlined by R&B legend Alicia Keys who will be showing how she keeps fit with a workout routine with celebrity trainer, Jeanette Jenkins at 11:30 a.m. Following that, Keys will host a second set at 8:00 p.m. which involves a karaoke session. In addition, Derek Hough will be hosting a trivia night at home from 11:00 a.m., with an encore later the same night (at 11:30 p.m.). You might also want to keep an eye out for insight into the personal and professional lives of superstars, such as singer/songwriter Dua Lipa at 7:00 p.m., followed by rapper DaBaby at 7:30 p.m.
Headlined by artists like singer and TikTok star Doja Cat and John Legend, the festival will be ending with a bang. Join rap legend and culinary icon Snoop Dogg for a breakfast party at 10:30 a.m., as well as Frozen star and Tony-winning actress/musician Idina Menzel, who will be hosting a sing-along for the entire family at 2:00 p.m. Likewise, the Voice coach and modern-day crooner John Legend, will be hosting another sing-along on Houseparty at 7:00 p.m.
