Due to circumstances out of their control, production on the fourth season of Riverdale was forced to shut down early. The result: "Killing Mr. Honey," the last completed episode before production shut down, was officially considered the season finale.
Since "Killing Mr. Honey" was not written to be the intended season finale, the season as a whole could not be blamed for not completing several arcs of the season, as those episodes and storylines may find their conclusions in season five. However, several storylines left on a cliffhanger at the end of season four do need to be addressed in the fifth season.
10 Hiram's Illness
Although Hiram Lodge has never been the most trustworthy person, Veronica believes her father is telling the truth about his neuromuscular disorder. Hiram has shown signs of losing strength occasionally, but other times, such as working out at Archie's gym and beating up another man, Hiram has demonstrated that he is well in shape.
The actual state of Hiram's health has yet to be confirmed by anyone other than himself, meaning Hiram could comfortably be lying to cover up another scheme. Five years in the future from Riverdale, Hiram appeared in Katy Keene, looking to return to New York City. In Hiram's appearance, he did not seem to be sick.
9 What Happens To Veronica's Rum Business?
Veronica began a competitive rum business to compete against her father's. After going into business with Cheryl, their rum took off until Cheryl decided to step back from the product after thugs threatened them. Since then, it is unclear how Veronica's business is doing alone. Since Veronica would be controlling two companies, at least, Veronica should not have much trouble with money.
However, the thugs that confronted Veronica and Cheryl at the end of season four were from a rival rum business that had been selling to the same demographic that Veronica and Cheryl had.
8 Who Is Mr. Honey?
It isn't Mr. Honey's identity that is being called into question as much as who he is as a person. In the season finale, Mr. Honey is described as a good person by the secretary, who lists the good things Mr. Honey has done for various students at Riverdale High School, including writing Jughead a college recommendation letter.
Mr. Honey claims he was only doing what was in the best interest of the students, justifying that the amount of murder that occurs at Riverdale is not average. Mr. Honey has also made himself an enemy to nearly the entire student body. It was implied that Mr. Honey had teepeed Reggie's car in retaliation to Reggie's senior prank in Mr. Honey's office earlier in the school year. Mr. Honey was also seen wishing to look at the more disturbing videotapes.
7 Does Jughead Go To College?
With it looking like Jughead faking his death removed him from attending Yale, he is looking to attend the University of Iowa. While Veronica and Betty look to be attending college and Archie looks into the Naval Academy, Jughead is the only one of the core four not to have a solid idea for his future.
Initially thinking he would not be attending until January, Jughead learned that he might have the opportunity to begin in the fall if he completes an original story. Jughead's plans may even be thwarted by being the Serpent King or faking his death for an extended time.
6 Charles And Chic
Perhaps the least seen storyline in season four was the relationship between Charles and Chic. Only given one scene together throughout the season, the audience was given a hint regarding the possibilities of Charles' loyalties by showing him with Chic. However, the storyline was never mentioned again after the one scene, and it needs to be addressed once season five begins.
Charles and Chic may have been plotting against the Jones and Cooper families, as Charles told Chic that FP told Charles the location of a dead body. It would make sense that Chic would want revenge for ending up in jail, but there have not been answers regarding their history together.
5 What Does Charles Want?
Not only was Charles seen with Chic, having a romantic relationship no less, but he was also seen listening in on Betty and Jughead's phone conversation. With so much time without Charles involved, he could've been spying on them for longer than anyone thought. Since it is Riverdale, it is doubtful that Charles has stuck around town just to stay with his family.
Charles has spent more time with Betty and Jughead than FP or Alice, leading to the possibility that Charles may not want something from either of his biological parents, but instead from his siblings.
4 How Do FP And Hermione Leave?
When it was announced that Skeet Ulrich and Marisol Nichols would be leaving the series, it left fans wondering how they would be written out. Since Riverdale's fourth season came to an early end, FP and Alice would be sticking around until the conclusion of what was meant to be the season finale.
With rumors flying that there was meant to be a time jump involved, FP and Hermione may have done anything from being involved in a new mystery to have decided to move away. It also brings up questions regarding how FP and Hermione's absence will affect Jughead, Veronica, Alice, and Hiram.
3 Archie And Betty
Archie and Betty's friendship took a romantic turn during "Wicked Little Town" that continued into the following episode. While Archie and Betty's temporary situation does not go far, it does suggest that there is more to their relationship than they have been willing to develop.
Since they are each in relationships with Jughead and Veronica, respectively, it made sense that Archie and Betty needed time to figure out what they wanted. While Betty and Archie did agree to drop their feelings, that storyline may not be so easily over as Veronica and Jughead had not learned the truth by the season's end.
2 Do Jughead And Veronica Find Out?
Speaking of Jughead and Veronica not knowing the truth, season five needs to answer if the two will learn the truth. It is unlikely that Jughead and Veronica would never discover what Betty and Archie had been up to. Still, part of the question involved how Jughead and Veronica handle the situation, and what they will do in response. Do they find out by accident? Do Archie and Betty admit to it?
Jughead and Veronica have been left in the dark about Archie and Betty's discussions about a possible relationship, and that could lead to some problems if they do learn the truth.
1 Who Is Making The Tapes
A storyline that disappeared for over half the season made a frightening return during "Wicked Little Town." Rather than just tapes of the outside of people's homes, the recordings became recreations of events in people's lives. From what happened to Jughead in the woods to a reenactment of Jason Blossom's murder, and even a live-action portrayal of Jughead's "Killing Mr. Honey" story.
The person behind the camera had to know enough about the goings-on to make, at least somewhat accurate, recreations of events while also having enough friends to act the parts and develop masks to appear like anyone involved.
