Which Fantasy Movies on Amazon Should You Watch, Based On Your Chinese Zodiac?

Stories of fantasy have been around for thousands of years; and may involve magic, ancient lore, celestial events, or even plain old sci-fi. These stories exist to tell us not what is, but what might be if the world was changed ever so slightly. Fantasy can be great in any medium, whether it be in the form of books, films, video games, or even anime.

However, it can be tricky to choose which fantasy movie to watch, considering the innumerable options available to us on equally countless streaming platforms. To make things a bit easier, we have created a list of some of the best fantasy movies available on Amazon Prime based on how well they match the Chinese Zodiac signs. Please note that Prime does not offer all the movies listed below for free.

12 Rat - Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey (1991)

If you're a Rat, this hilarious sequel to Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989) will have you rolling on the floor, clutching your gut. The sheer amount of fierceness exhibited by both Bill and Ted gets them through all their ordeals, whether they have luck on their side or not.

Rats are brilliant at finding the simplest solutions to a problem, even if it seems potentially unfeasible, as we see when Bill and Ted challenge Death himself to a series of competitions — in order to escape from the afterlife.

11 Ox - Thor (2011)

Although superhero movies are getting a lot more explosive, it was the first Thor movie that helped set the stage of the MCU. People belonging to the Ox will relate with Thor's persistent (although a bit stubborn) nature, as he fights tooth and nail to go back home to Asgard.

He shows himself to be a capable superhero, even though his powers were removed by his father, Odin, as punishment.

10 Tiger - Being John Malkovich (1999)

Tigers will love the strange storylines of Being John Malkovich, a movie that deals with mind portals and complicated mythologies. In fact, Maxine and Lotte, two of the lead roles in the film, are depicted as courageous, fearless, and ambitious, all classic features of this sign.

Their boldness, especially when it comes to taking a desperate chance in order to remain together, reflects the determination present in all people born in the year of the Tiger.

9 Rabbit - The Dark Crystal (1982)

The movie The Dark Crystal is the prequel to the widely acclaimed Netflix series, The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance (2019). As a movie about tiny little creatures called Gelfling; and their journey to overthrow their oppressive overlords, the Skeksis, Rabbits will find this story very much to their liking.

Given the Rabbit tendency to be meek and gentle, along with their desire to persist even when discouraged, viewers born under this sign will identify with the sheer bravado of the Gelfling when faced with the toughest odds.

8 Dragon - Beauty And The Beast (2017)

This story has been told for hundreds of years and has even been made into several movies: the Disney version in 1993 being the best known. However, this live action portrayal is as charming and magical as any other.

Dragons will love the bravery and tenacity of Belle — a delicate beauty trapped in the castle of a seemingly dangerous Beast — who has the gall to challenge her captor even when the whole town cowers in fear of his name. Dragons will also identify with the hotheaded character of the Beast, as they are prone to fits of rage on occasion.

7 Snake - Jumanji (1995)

Joe Johnston's Jumanji was one of the most popular fantasy films of the 90s, boosting Robin Williams' career to even greater heights. The movie is about a magical board game that forces its players into unwanted adventures, where they have to face terrifying wild animals, creepy insects, and a Hunter.

Snakes, being cerebral, will identify with the lead characters, Peter and Judy Shepherd, as they rack their brains to figure out how to beat this game.

6 Horse - Nanny McPhee (2005)

Horses will adore the noisy household of Cedric Brown and his seven energetic kids, given their own dynamic nature. Brown hires a magical caretaker named Nanny McPhee who quickly becomes a part of the family, even aiding them in their fight against Lady Stitch, the antagonist.

Those born under the Horse often use humor to express themselves; and will love the witty banter offered by Nanny McPhee as she disciplines the children.

5 Goat - Cinderella (1965)

Disney's Cinderella gets all the credit for this beautiful fairy tale. However, the 1965 TV movie version, based on a Rodger's and Hammerstein musical, is as sparkling and honest as any other. Goats, with their tender, shy, and humble characteristics, will appreciate Lesley Ann Warren's delicate portrayal of Cinderella. She first catches the attention of the prince while he is traveling through her village.

Brimming with compassion, she gives him water to drink when he tells her that he is thirsty, even though she has no idea of his origins. The rest of the story is well-known, but this movie is unmissable.

4 Monkey - Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them (2016)

Monkeys are known for the silly nature, preferring to express themselves with pranks and jokes, even during serious situations. They will find themselves in Newt Scamander, an awkward young magician who cannot help but look at the world through a lighthearted lens in Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, an offshoot of the Harry Potter franchise.

Newt is also incredibly smart and curious about everything around him, although he can also be rather eccentric, something that most Monkeys are also well known for.

3 Rooster - Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008)

In Guillermo del Toro's sequel, Hellboy must fight to protect the world from Hellish forces who seek to conquer it by any means necessary (genocide by horrific demons). Hellboy's character is akin to a Rooster in many ways, such as the endless energy, constant talking, and being directly honest (too directly, in some cases).

Hellboy often plays the role of a sarcastic joker, preferring to hide behind a mask of social over-friendliness rather than expose his true emotions to those around him.

2 Dog - It's A Wonderful Life (1946)

The classic It's A Wonderful Life has been a staple of American Christmas movie marathons for several decades. Its story of a suicidal man who is shown that hope can be found in the darkest of places has been a cheering light for generations of people.

Dogs, given their loyal, sincere, and friendly nature, will especially love George Bailey, a man on the brink of poverty even though he has helped everyone in his town multiple times over. Bailey is visited by his guardian angel, Clarence, who proceeds to show him what would become of all his family and friends if he goes through with his suicide.

1 Pig - From Time To Time (2009)

From Time To Time is a magical story about time travel, in which a precocious teenager named Tolly finds himself hundreds of years in the past. Pigs will identify with Tolly's diligence and perseverance, especially when it comes to helping out his ancestors with various cases, from missing jewelry to secret arson.

Tolly's fate is compounded by the fact that very few people can see him in the past, but with the help of Susan, he sets off on an adventure to unlock the darkest mysteries of his family.
