ISTJs are just naturally go getters that strive for a better tomorrow. They are analytical thinkers who make up the world's doctors, scientists, and political analysts. They aren't daydreamers like some other personality types, instead they prefer to see what polls and data tell them. This personality trait keeps them firmly placed in reality.
So, with that said, it isn't surprising that they would want to watch television shows that exhibit these same kinds of traits that they often do. But what kinds of genre shows would ISTJ hate, and what kind would they love?
10 Love: The Mandalorian
Whether many Star Wars fans will admit it or not, the hit movies that have entertained three generations of fans are now nothing more than nostalgia bait. For a long time now, it has lacked the heart that the original series introduced all those years ago.
For the past two decades, it was nothing more than a shell of its former glory. With all that said, The Mandalorian has proven to be a sleeper hit that ISTJs will adore because of its responsible take on the franchise.
9 Hate: The Boys
No one can ever say that The Boys is not original content. It is an absolute gem of a show with out of this world characterizations of superheroes, something that is almost unheard of when dealing with people who fly around in spandex.
While it delivers on laughs, the show does have a problem with feeling credible when it comes to handling the more heart-wrenching moments. ISTJs will dislike it for its lack of realism and irresponsible character behavior.
8 Love: Chernobyl
Shows that deal with real-world events can sometimes be hit or miss. They often bring bouts of controversy especially if the topic involves an event or person that took place during the modern era. Chernobyl is one of the few shows in this category that excels in its storytelling while capturing the heart of the subject.
It chronicles the real-world tragedy so effectively that personality types like ISTJs will immediately love it for its boldness and substance-driven plot.
7 Hate: Batwoman
Sometimes when it comes to the world of superheroes, it is hard to understand just how fans will react to a TV show or movie dedicated to even the more popular ones. Die-hard fans love and hate specific shows and movies for various different reasons that executives in Hollywood could not even begin to comprehend.
However, when it comes to Batwoman, ISTJs will find it difficult to follow due to its irrational storyline and overall poor dialogue, and character execution that cripples important moments in the show.
6 Love: Carnival Row
On the outside, Carnival Row would seem like a show that ISTJs would despise. After all, it deals with fairy tale creatures living among a human populace. Such far-fetched fantasies usually do not appeal to this particular personality type, but looks can sometimes be deceiving.
Carnival Row has a strong protagonist who uses logic in his work as a detective to solve crimes. And much of the show is actually dedicated to serious topics related to politics and societal affairs that usually intrigue ISTJs.
5 Hate: Harley Quinn
Since her introduction into DC lore, Harley Quinn has mostly remained Joker's sidekick, but after the character's breakout role in Suicide Squad, the character of Harley Quinn was given her chance to shine in her own show. As far as season 1 is concerned, it has proven to be a monumental success.
That said, due to Harley Quinn's inability to be calm and practical in basically any of her ways, it is hard to believe an ISTJ would even contemplate giving this show the time of day.
4 Love: The Masked Singer
Who doesn't adore The Masked Singer, a show that came out of left field and took the world by storm? There are so many people who would never watch a singing show that are enamored with this one.
Week by week, fans wait in anxious anticipation, wondering if their favorite singer will be cast off for good. ISTJs will love this show simply based on the analytical aspects involved in determining who is not only the most popular singer, but who will be the next one axed.
3 Hate: The Witcher
After Game of Thrones' last season fizzled to a close, many fantasy fans were anticipating a show that could possibly satisfy their thirst for blood and carnage. Sadly, while The Witcher is a great show on its own, season 1 failed to live up to the hype it had been given in pre-production.
All in all, it is still a fascinating show with interesting main characters. However, ISTJs will despise it simply because it is a show that is the furthest thing from being rooted in facts.
2 Love: The Act
The Act is a surprisingly good television show about a mother who has tricked her daughter and the world into believing that she is gravely ill.
The show follows the life of the daughter as she learns the truth, falls in love, and ultimately murders her mother in an attempt to free herself for good from her mother's clutches. ISTJs will enjoy the criminal aspect of The Act, as it is displayed on screen as more of a documentary than a series.
1 Hate: What We Do In The Shadows
ISTJs are naturally analytical thinkers who strive to keep a clear head from such things as superstition, or basically anything that can't be proven or studied. So things like vampires would clearly be placed on the list of superstitious unstudied creatures.
Thereby, a show like What We Do In The Dark is something that would not appeal to the inner ISTJ. With that said, if they give it a shot, it would present a few laughs that even they couldn't deny.
