60+ Xbox One Demos Drop a Day Early As Part Of Summer Game Fest

A day ahead of schedule, Xbox has released over 60 free Xbox One demos for unreleased titles coming to the platform. These demos are currently available on the Xbox Games Store for players to download and enjoy on their Xbox Ones. These demos have been released as a part of the Xbox Summer Games Fest Demo Event, which was supposed to start on July 21 to mark the start of the week-long gaming event.

The Xbox Summer Game Fest was announced earlier this month and is a week-long event where gamers can play close to 100 different demos of unreleased titles coming to Xbox One in the near future. This event is similar to the Steam Game Festival where PC gamers could download free game demos to try out some new titles. However, the Steam Game Festival only brought 40 new demos to the platform, whereas the Xbox portion of Summer Game Fest boasts close to 100 titles.

TrueAchievements has posted a list of all 60+ titles currently available on Xbox as part of Summer Game Fest. The titles range from full-fledged adventure games to couch-co-op party games, and each one is free to download for a limited time. Familiar titles such as Destroy All Humans!a remake of the cult-classic original game, have demos available, as well as brand new games like Chickens Madness, which is a party game where players assume the role of, well, chickens.

Other previously announced titles that gamers may be looking to try are SkateBIRD, a Tony Hawk-esque game where birds shred on tiny skateboards; Cake Bash, a four-player party game where cakes beat each other to a pulp; and Phogs, where players assume the role of a two-headed catdog-like dog and work together to solve puzzles. The list of games available is massive, and luckily gamers have a week in which to try them all out. The Xbox Summer Game Fest officially runs from July 21 - 27, and is an excellent complement to July 23's Xbox Games Showcase.

These Xbox demo festival events are interesting as they allow everyone to have a hands-on experience with new games. These types of experiences were once locked behind paywalls in the form of physical conventions, but now developers can reach a larger audience through digital events. They are also a great way for gamers to try a game before it's released, and a great way for developers to spread awareness of their upcoming titles. While a lot of gaming conventions and showcases have had to change their format due to unforeseen circumstances, these new digital events may prove to be a more cost-effective and beneficial way of doing things in the future.
