Glee: 10 Things That Make No Sense About The Musical Series

Fox's hit series Glee was on the air for six full seasons, and like many other popular television series about teenagers in high school, it tried to speak about social issues and give just the right amount of upbeat singing and dancing in order to tackle those issues.

Though not all of the storylines throughout the series were great and the show definitely went downhill after each season, it can be pretty surprising to look back at all of the wacky nonsense that the creators tried to get fans to go along with.

10 The Members Rarely Ever Attend Class

In most real-life high schools, students are more worried about their grades or trying to figure out their future rather than extracurricular activities. But in the Glee world, it seems that every student in the Glee club is more worried about singing or dancing than learning anything and they are rarely ever seen in a classroom.

Those in the club are constantly thinking about new ways to win championships or just spending time singing with their significant other throughout the school day. Not only does this not make any sense, but it would definitely be more realistic if they were to include some actual school moments throughout the series.

9 Will Schuester Stops Teaching Spanish

It's hard to remember a time where Will Schuester was anything other than the Glee club's teacher, but OG fans may remember that he started out as a Spanish teacher. His time in the actual classroom was cut short after he gained an interest in keeping up the Glee club, and over time, he just gives up teaching Spanish all together for the club.

Since he seems to quit his day job pretty early on to make room for his after school project, it can be hard to remember a time when he was teaching something other than dancing and singing.

8 Rachel's Crush On Mr. Schuester

During the first season of the series, everyone was rooting for Rachel and Finn's relationship to blossom after watching them flirt with each other episode after episode, but when the show threw a major wrench in that plan, many fans didn't know how to feel about it - especially since it concerned Rachel's teacher, Mr. Schue. All it took was one small duet with him to "Endless Love" to cause her to go psycho and get a little obsessed with him.

The thought of these two as a couple was definitely odd, not to mention illegal, but the fact that her crush on him only lasted for one full episode makes it even weirder.

7 Puck & Shelby's Relationship

One Glee relationship that many fans find themselves forgetting about is the very out of nowhere and random fling between Puck and his daughter's adoptive mother Shelby in season three. Not only was this relationship a short one, but it was also very uncomfortable to watch, considering Puck was supposed to be around 18 years old and still a high school student.

Their relationship was only seen for a few episodes and it is easy to forget since it wasn't that relevant to the storyline, but it didn't even need to happen to begin with.

6 Sue Marrying Herself

Sue Sylvester has been a beloved character since the beginning. At often times she was scary, but she had a sweet side to her. She was very true to herself and didn't want to wait around for anyone, which probably explains why she decided to marry herself in season two.

In the real world, hearing that someone is marrying themselves would sound pretty crazy and it would probably be on all of the major news stations - but not in the Glee universe. After Sue decides to get hitched, the entire storyline pretty much disappears and many characters, including herself, act like it never happened!

5 Quinn's Accident

Although some of Glee's storylines are completely out of the ordinary, they do try to make them seem relatable somehow - but in season three, this goes out the window. In the episode "On My Way," Quinn is on her way to Rachel and Finn's wedding, but she gets stuck in traffic and finds herself texting while driving and gets into a horrible crash, leaving her in a wheelchair. For any regular person they would have to stay in that wheelchair for a few months in order to heal properly, but not Quinn Fabray!

Somehow, Quinn is able to walk and dance as she was before her accident just in time for the Nationals competition. Even after showing her taking physical therapy and learning to cope with the fact that she may spend the rest of her life in the chair, the creators swept that concept up and healed her immediately.

4 Brittany Becoming A Mathematical Genius

Brittany S. Pierce was known as the hilariously lovable, ditzy, and somewhat slow cheerleader and member of the Glee club. She was one of the main reasons why the series was as funny as it was and she always added a quick one-liner to any serious matter.

Throughout the series, Brittany did not once show one ounce of smarts or anything that would demonstrate her school studies - but randomly, in season four, her character completely changed up her game. She proved that she was a literal mathematical genius and she attended M.I.T. after graduating high school. This change was not only out of nowhere, it also just made it seem like she just woke up one morning smart, which doesn't make any sense at all.

3 Quinn Wasn't Included In Finn's Tribute Episode

Quite possibly the most heartbreaking episode of the entire series is season five's episode titled "The Quarterback." The episode was used as a real-life memorial for fans of the show and cast members who worked along with the late Cory Monteith after his passing in 2013.

Cory's lovable character, Finn Hudson, was honored with many beautiful songs and moments, but somehow the episode didn't include his first high school love, Quinn Fabray, played by Dianna Agron. Although her absence from the episode didn't really make much sense, it turns out that Dianna just wasn't invited to be a part of the episode, which makes it even worse!

2 Karofsky & Blaine Dating

From very early on in season one, we quickly learn that Kurt is being bullied by the football team for being gay, but it isn't until season two that we see exactly why his main bully Karofsky is putting him through so much. When Kurt confronts Karofsky about the bullying, he gives in and kisses Kurt, just before telling him that he is gay too and afraid of what everyone will think. After this, Kurt quickly meets Blaine and their romance sparks, leaving fans rooting for the couple.

Fast forward to season six, which takes place many years after the Glee club has graduated and fans learn that since Blaine and Kurt's split, he and Karofsky have randomly started dating and are now living together. Not only is this completely heartbreaking for Kurt, it also just makes the storyline extremely confusing.

1 Rachel Leaving Broadway

One of the biggest things fans of the show loved was getting to watch their favorite characters chase their dreams and stop at nothing until they reach them. The biggest dreamer of the entire series was Rachel Berry and she was extremely determined to make it to Broadway and become the next Barbara Streisand.

What viewers didn't see coming was that once she reached her dreams, she would decide to leave Broadway and take up an offer for her own television show instead. Since she spent all of her high school years trying to find ways to get a solo and be the star of the show, it just doesn't make sense as to why she would throw away all of her hard work.
