Karine Martins of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Acted strangely in the recent episode. She didn't want anything to do with her husband, Paul Staehle. She didn't even didn't let TLC cameras and crew near her. Now, fans are speculating if she's suffering from postpartum depression.
Things have been rough for this young couple lately. They moved from Brazil to America with hopes that Paul will be able to provide the best care for the family of three. Although he was successful in renting a trailer home, he is unable to find a job. In the recent episode, fans got shocked to see how the Brazilian acted when the cameras arrived. She locked herself in the bathroom and didn't come out, even when Paul knocked on the door numerous times. While speaking to his wife from the other side of the door, he asked, "Karine, mom's going to be here soon. Are you alright? You OK?" Even the producers were unable to comprehend the situation and asked Paul about what happened to his wife. He replied, "I'm not sure. I told her mom's coming over. She's gone to the bathroom, and is not coming out." He elaborated on Karine's odd behavior and said, "Every now and again, she does this. She'll go in the bathroom, lock herself in there for like four, five, six hours. And then finally come out. She's been having a lot of mood swings lately, and I feel really bad for her. I'm trying to do everything I can. But, it's difficult. It's very difficult."
Karine's fans are really concerned about her mental health. Keeping in mind all the signs she has been showing, they think that "she has Postpartum depression." On Reddit user wrote, "I wonder too if she has postpartum depression. If so she really has a rough go. Paul is like a "dog pecker" gnat, you can swat him away but he just keeps on coming back and annoying the fuck out ya." Another one took a jab at TLC and said, "I think she struggles (struggled) with postpartum depression and it is disgusting that tlc is using her anguish to promote the show. While some fans are convinced that the mother of one is suffering from depression, others are just confused about what to conclude. One comment read, "Its hard because she really never really talks on the show. They interview her the least out of them all. But you can tell she's just unhappy. The trailer is a lot nicer than the place they had in Brazil." Karine had to make a lot of compromises in the past. She had to leave her life, family, and friends in Brazil to make a living in the States. And even in America, she isn't getting suitable living conditions, which could've disturbed her mental health.
Also, considering the recent domestic abuse allegations by the 24-year-old on her American husband, it is possible that the couple had a heated argument just before the TLC crew arrived. Paul might have been abusive towards Karine. And to get away from that situation, she locked herself in the bathroom.
