Halo 3: ODST Could Come To Master Chief Collection On PC This Month

The Master Chief Collection could see the arrival of Halo 3: ODST in as little as a month. Halo 3: ODST has always been planned to accompany the Master Chief Collection, but a recent update has teased the possibility of ODST coming to PC in addition to console this month. Regardless, ODST is planned to be included in the next wave of content that is added to the Master Chief Collection.

While Halo 3: ODST has been available to console players for years and has already been a part of the console release of the Master Chief Collection, the ODST experience has yet to make its way to PC. Halo 3 was recently added to the PC version of the Master Chief Collection which received huge praise from the Halo community. Now, the Master Chief Collection is gearing up to add yet another classic Halo title to its PC roster.

According to a blog update from Halo Waypoint, 343 Industries is working on its next season of content for the Master Chief Collection. Tyler “Postums” Davis states in his most recent blog that the team is working on adding new options to ODST's firefight mode and that a table is being set for when "ODST flighting comes online next month." This blog post was posted on July 31 which means that ODST could be coming to the Master Chief Collection sometime in August.

"Next, we’ll look to the future and our next Season of content for MCC, this will include details about some new options inside of Halo 3: ODST’s Firefight. Then, we’ll set the table for what folks can expect when ODST flighting comes online next month."

Halo 3: ODST will be the second to last Halo title to make its way to PC as a part of the Master Chief Collection. Currently, the console version of the collection includes Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo Reach, and Halo 4. The PC version includes every title listed except for ODST and Halo 4. These titles are planned to make their way to PC by the end of 2020, and by the look of things, they may get here sooner than expected.

While Halo 3: ODST has never been hailed as one of the greatest Halo experiences, its inclusion on the PC could breathe new life into the game. The storyline doesn't follow that of the traditional Halo games but instead puts the player in the shoes of a normal human being. The absence of Master Chief may not have resonated with gamers in 2009, but aging gamers getting to experience the title 11 years later may find a newfound love for Orbital Drop Shock Troopers.
